edge
I seem to be seeing cars with rusty bonnets. First see a couple at trax on "show cars" and now driving all over the place. Really confused about this one as i thought most would want their pride and joy looking as good as they can. I can now say i offer this latest performance modification service at an amazing £199 plus 12 kilo's of haribo

Gaz6002
It's that 'rat' thing again. Basically making your car look absolutely ridiculous on purpose.
Abz
I am just trying to work out what? I know being different can be good, but err why?
Soopra
it's called "patina" apparently... personally i think that's a fancy way of spelling "poop"....
Josh
Such a ridiculous thing to do. Matte black bonnets is one thing but rust is crazy.
SilentAgro
Patina only looks good on older cars. and only when its done well. some of them aren't actually rusty, its all paint. I like it.
Abz
it's called "patina" apparently... personally i think that's a fancy way of spelling "poop".... Ah, looks like it is an art form, though doing it on modern cars doesn't really pull it off. I have seen it before on VW Camper vans & the like but never knew it was done on new cars. http://image.hotrod.com/f/9003317/hrdp_0704_rat_02_z+1937_ford_rat_rod+patina+rear_view.jpg

Westy
Worst trend ever to hit the modifying scene! I hate this look so much! Each to their own!

And if its not replicated rust, its an mot fail! imagine someone getting hit by a car and being struck by the bonnet (god forbid) causing rusty cuts etc, especially someone whos diabetic...could cost lives, being hit and being cut by rusted metal. Ewen
I quite like it on the hot rod, but not on a modern car. I love the look on watches too.

Would you rather they coat their cars in Hammerite (straight to rust)?
j_jza80
It looks okay on older cars, but is as bad as carbon on newer cars.
