Mcvites69
Hi fellow Supra owners . i've got a 94 plate N/A auto. when i go to start her i just get a starter solenoid clicking it will do it 5 or 6 times then the supra starts . i've checked the battery all good , checked the output from the alternator all gd . I'm i looking at a knackered starter solenoid or a knackered starter motor (but the starter motor does start the car ok) Is the starter solenoid built into the starter motor . i know when i turn the key i can here the solenoid clicking but not engauging to starter motor. Any idea's ?
dan294
Probably the copper contacts are worn you can buy a starter refub kit : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOYOTA-SUPRA-MK4-JZA80-3-0-inc-TT-TWIN-TURBO-STARTER-MOTOR-SOLENOID-REPAIR-KIT-/290607555264?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item43a98f62c0 Probably the most cost effective repair. Check the connections on both the battery and starter motor first though and make sure they are good. If it is the contacts, a refurb kit is a sight cheaper than a new starter motor! Worked for me anyway!
Guest Budz86
Just had the same problem but mine wasn't starting at all. Fitted new starter motor contacts and its fine now. Only cost £23 from Toyota
