I'm interested in the game but i don't want to have to put up with their origin download service. It will probably hit steam in a few months so for now I will have to stick with annoying people with my engineer sentries on team fortress 2 :)

I dont think it will be released on STEAM, EA seem to have fallen out with them ...hence they launched their own digital distribution client Origin (well, its not new, its the EA download manager with a face lift). Wont be suprised if other Publishers do this as they will make more money cutting out the middle man (steam).

Digital Distribution is the future as broadband becomes faster and more available. It will kill of the 2nd hand games market that costs Publishers millions, it will reduce their distrubution costs (wont have to ship DVDs all over the world) and they reckon it will reduce piracy....time will tell.

Origin is going to be a train wreck, I was interested in BF3, but as soon as I heard it's all through EA's "service", I abandoned all hope :) Once EA have your £££s, they walk away. Plus the servers can be turned off after 18 months and you lose the game, it's all in the EULA and T&Cs

Never had a problem with previous battlefield games? Who wants to play the old ones anyway when the new games are out?

Been playing this for the last few hours on PC and PS3 trying to decide which I'd prefer to actually end up buying.

The video's previously posted have kind of spoilt the game especially the vids of the console version looking like there wasn't going to be a huge leap in the graphical department but it is just more than noticeable, its like a different game on PC. Which is understandable due to the tech of a PC and how old the current gen consoles are getting on. Guess its my own fault as them miniture youtube vids made it look awesome across all platforms.

Thing is, everyone who I go online with is PS3 so it's either go solo for the better game or take a cut in the gfx dept and enjoy it with mates...

Acouple of glitches ive come across on PS3 so far is I've fell through the floor on numerous occasions when crawling and sometimes my gun won't aim down site when pressing L1. Switch to pistol and back and its fine.

PC was a nightmare to start with, gfx card updates, spawning and my character constantly spinning round in a never ending circle and random black screen flickers. All sorted eventually (the spinning was caused by my logitech joystick being plugged in). Worst of all some keys are not binding and its annoying. At the min I'm playing with no sprint as whenever I select to sprint the chat box appears and even though I change it, it still remains chat box.

Lastly, the sound is brilliant in 5.1. Had afew RPG's whistle past me and I'm almost dodging them sat in my chair!

I fired up my 360 last night, used an XBOx live code for a month and it wouldn't let me download, added 3 more months on and it finally let me in. After much trying I got you have been disconnected from the EA servers constantly. EA really are useless.

They were down between 10.00 and 11.45 last night, I problems getting on to Fifa 12.

I didn't mention the previous BF games, I loved 1942 and the Desert Combat mod. BF2 was great until you realised it was populated by bunny hopping spawn camping stat padding kiddies and EA did this ->

 ;) So it'll be 100% locked down, no modding, and no post-release support to speak of as the money will have been raked in, mission complete. And you have to play it online with *shudder* retards on the internet. And that's the only game option. And it has to go through the EA servers via an immature console-friendly UI, so good luck with that :)

I'd love to have a go on it, but, meh, it'll just be a massive disappointment - not due to the game, that's looks ace! But instead, due to EA and the Origin 'service' :( And that nasty EULA thing. I'm shocked and saddened that you accept it's OK to pay £xx to just rent a game, for a short while, that only works on EA's vague whim when the servers briefly wobble upright. That mindset lets EA get away with this sort of thing and paves the way for a depressing gaming future :(

I will let you stick to your non EA games as it obviously makes you very happy :D

I used to love 'em, especially the Need For Speed series, but they went downhill rapidly after Porsche Challenge, as features were removed and things locked down, to cater for the shiny-thing console crowd. Hopefully I'll be proved wrong and Origin will be ace and will just plain work properly, there will be no hidden charges or 'premium content' purchases where you get better guns and armour by paying real money for it, and the game will be long lived, supported, patched, and community requests will be implemented. If so, come back on here and give me a big nyah nyah nyah told-you-so :D Then I might start playing it :D
