Alex
http://www.crower.com/cat/import/toyota/camshafts.shtml Check these out....sweet - I WILL have the 268/276 version...rough yet oh so sweet! The .393 lift = 9.9mm of lift Which means I'll be forced to port the head.... unless anyone knows if Crower are an unreliable manufacturer.... Guest Martin F
Crower come reccomended by some of our American friends, particularly for their pistons. Make of that what you will!
Rob
At the risk of hi-jacking the thread..... Anyone know if it's a bad idea to expose the cam pulleys for day-to day driving. I want to cut a slot out of my cam cover.
Adam W
I've seen it on a few MkIV's, in magazines and at shows. I think HKS do a cam cover with a cut-out in it precisely for that reason, and who can blame them with such sexy anodised vernier cam gears! If you're worried about it, cut a window out and then glue in a piece of clear perspex, but I don't think it should be an issue. AFAIK it's just there to protect the cambelt from knocks and scrapes, and stop it getting soaked in oil or anything.
Alex
The JUN cam gears are the most acurate by all accounts and the least likely to slip....its worth investing in top notch quality when you know what's at stake!!
Alex
Had a response from JUN on the price for the following... 1. JUN innner shim camshaft kit JPY 178,000 which includes; 1x high lift 272deg camshafts (10.8mm lift) for intake, 1x matching exhaust cam, Valve spring set, Special titanium retainer set. 2. Valve lifter set (24pc) JPY 39,000 3. Shims (24pc) JPY 21,600 4. Valve guide set JPY 38,400 5. Transfer charge by EMS JPY 29,200 6. Domestic bank commission JPY 4,500 Total prices JPY 310,700 310,700.00 JPY = £1,641.10 GBP So for all the head components to be replaced bar the valves themselves it will cost about 1700 of your poundlets Not bad at all, just the head work replacement pistons and valves to go....
