ManwithSupra
Hi All, After almost 7 years of ownership I am pretty sure that in a few months I will be moving on from the Supra I have been deliberating about moving on now for a couple of years, so I said to my wife (Who really does not want me to sell it) that I will do just a couple of track days to see how she performs properly and then decide from there. I can honestly say the car has never felt as good as she does now! The car really is incredible!! The Supra has been a big part of my life and it’s been absolutely immense in that time, however now the car is becoming cheaper and the influx of chav's and the general stigma that this has brought with the car makes me less inclined to continue with my plans with her and spend ££££'s more in doing that. The next car I am planning to move on to next is a Noble M12 GTO3R, I have been looking at these cars for a few years (doing research & talking to owners etc) and I just cannot stop lusting after them (maybe because of my Essex family roots it being mostly ford ). I really like the rawness of the car and the fact its quite rare. My car will be going up for sale probably March/April next year, however I am not going to let it go for a cheapo bargin basement price just to get rid of her, I have spent many thousands of pounds on keeping her in good condition in every aspect and there has been no expense spared on her. So if you are interested then keep an eye out or PM me. In the meantime I hope to make a few more meets
Sheefa
I've been out of my Supra for over 4 years now and I can honestly say there isn't a day that goes by when I don't think of one. Call it madness, obsessive, foolish, or all three, but the fact of the matter is bang for buck for performance, aesthetics and all out reliability for the asking price I can't think of anything that really comes that close. I agree about the chav bit but with rising tax, insurance and running costs hopefully the chav are a dying breed. I've been gagging for years to get back behind the wheel of a decent Supra mate - don't let go of it because no doubt this shall play on your mind like it has on mine! Scott
I personally couldn't do it for an M12, M15 maybe though
Rob_Mitchell
not sure i like reading that richard, your car is very nice and has some really tasty additional extras. You would lose alot on the car imo and nothing seems to sell nowdays either. I think you need to slap a single on her
Scooter
I've seen a lot of interesting machinery down this way this weekend (Goodwood revival!) one of which was a lovely blue Noble, can't say I blame you, a rare and striking car that has to be more handling/track focussed ie nimble than the supra...........if you've got to move on then I can think of a lot worse. I'm prepared to weather the supra bargain price storm and all the negatives it may have and hopefully come out the other side (but then i'll probably be just be labelled a classic car luddite/saddo like I pretty much am already at work!!) tkddav3
i do love the nobles, they are very nice cars but they just dint have the dramatics that supras do, especially a big power one, the noise..power and experience is second to none imo

Greg Hmmmm, yeah my brother has the same thing and he only had his Supra 6 weeks. I suppose I will only find out if I miss her once she is gone. Hopefully the chav issue will die like you mention by the time I come to sell her.

Havard
I was playing with a V10 Carrera Gt yesterday, sorry, no contest. Which way? With regard to the chav thing. I am certainly not seeing the problem. The site is moderated well and any idiots at meets are generally dealt with or told not to come back. There were a great bunch at JAE and also at the Dragonball. H.

I think he means the cars in general rather than with this club per se? As they decrease in value I guess that attracts a different type of customer. It's the fact that there are more and more Supras going into the wrong hands. N/A's in particular. It's heading the wrong way and it won't be long before the TT Auto is as bad. Sad really. The running costs of even NA's are high though. I suppose you just have to judge each car on it's merits and it also reflects a lot on it's owner. H. That’s exactly what i meant, i should have been clearer, the mods on this forum are very good at keeping the riff raff out, however outside of this forum is where the problem is. If all owners were like true enthusiasts as on here then i am sure prices would have remained higher.
DodgyRog
How I am looking at the Chav issue is They generally don't keep them very long They either slide them into a ditch or realise they can't afford to maintain and run them If they keep buying N/A's or TT Auto's and wrecking them, then Supra's are just going to get rarer and also as time goes on, it's getting a lot harder to find well looked after examples. A good source of parts I guess as well If you have your heart set on a Noble, then I guess you will have to try one, but there is a guy near me with one and he likes mine, he said he fells it's more suited to road use than the Noble and with the tuning possibility as well I guess the grass is always greener

Heyrick
It's all subjective I know but I really think it's a beautiful car. I wasn't really aware of it until I saw this thread so googled it and was shocked at how nice it was. I went to the SW Lotus garages' open day yesterday and there was one there (as well as the new £200,000 one!). Anyway, the owner saw us taking an interest and offered a ride - obviously accepted that What a rush, more hp then my TT plus being lighter meant inceedible acceleration and cornering. Couldn't believe that the owner then offered me to drive it and then let he me take my wife out in it on my own - can't be many people that would let a complete stranger drive their car without being with them? Even more so a car like this! Really want one now but I don't know if I'm ready to give up on the Supra yet after only just getting it back on the road and starting to go to meets etc? Problem also is that the wife is really tempted too as well as it being liked by most of the rest of the family. ellis
It's interesting that you're considering changing because of a perceived image rather than your own thoughts of the car. Personally, I don't give a rat's ass what sort of people are buying Supras - as Paul said earlier, all marques are blighted at some point by some small section of society! Take BMWs, Porsches and now Audis! Every make of car has somebody negative associated with it - so what! I drive my car, I love my car, only my opinion of what my car means really counts as it should with you. I bought this one because (like Sheefa said earlier) I sold my 2nd one thinking I should change, that I should get something else. Big mistake! Within a month or two the other car was gone and this Supra was sat on the drive. So who cares what everybody else is up to or whether your neighbour thinks you're a chav! You know you're not. If you personally have lost the love for the car then fine. But if you're changing because of some social perception that you don't like being associated with then you are doing it for the wrong reason in my opinion. It's not what others think, it's what you think. And it's up to those of us who do care about the marque to change those negative perceptions when we're out and about, which I know happens. sdistc
That's why I said 'sorry', because I would swap in a heartbeat! So would I, but since we're living in a fantasyland where a £300k Porsche is going to be swapped for a £20k Toyota, I'll take the yacht in Monaco and the chalet in the Swiss Alps too thanks.
