help to diagnose oil leak

Took the car on a long run the other day. Smelt a burning oil type smell whilst at the lights and then when stopped I opened the bonnet and noticed a haze and a stronger smoky smell.

Noticed a small oil leak towards the top rear of the engine just above the exhaust manifold heat shield. Is this a failed rocker cover seal?

yes, you can nip up (go gently) the bolts in the vicinity and I would take off the rear speak plug cover and check out for oil ingress into the cylinder head valley.

it will run down there and flick back onto the exhaust to give the smell/fumes.

OK thanks

Wont i have to take the inlet manifold off too (think that what its called - attached to the air filter - Its an N/A) in order to get to the bolts that need to be tightened?

Also, i supposedly had the rocker cover gaskets replaced 2 years ago by Toyota GT and ive only done about 5000miles since then. Is that normal?

Brake cleaner works quite well.

If it were me i'd bite the bullet and get 2 new cam cover gaskets including the seals that

go on the bolts and also pop some new plugs in it at the same time

Ignore the above if you've had them replaced and try just carefully nipping up the bolts
