Chris Wilson
I want to put a large screen PC monitor on the workshop wall, do any come with a flat to the wall mounting bracket? Need something circa 21 inch or more, resolution need not be superb, cost is an issue as it has more chance of being damaged in a workshop environment. My cheapish LG home monitor has been fine, and I'd use that in the workshop and buy a new / good used one for my office, but it has no obvious means of wall mounting without making something custom. Thanks. If anyone's got something used that would do, please let me know.
sideexitsupra
Lots of TV's now come with PC inputs on them and will take a STD VESA wall mount bracket. these tend to come in 2 sizes. Rule of thumb is up to 22 inch on the smaller ones. Might be better to get a TV rather than a monitor. Hope that help?
sams
does make matter at all? if not would something like.. it has PC input in bold in the info http://www.ebuyer.com/248683-aoc-l32ha91-32-full-hd-1080p-lcd-tv-freeview-3x-hdmi-l32ha91 be to expensive... argos sell wall brackets for not alot.. if you look into it alot of the 'cheap' brand tv's have brand name internals e.g my 42' hanspree is a panasonic under the casing
Branners
Almost all monitors come with a standard VESA mount on the rear. Basically 4 little holes a standard size apart. Then just buy a quick release vesa mount and attached it to the wall, attach the other bit to the monitor and of you go. I have tended to use Ergotron mounts as they are sturdy, HP also do a nice quick release version. http://www.ergotron.com/Products/tabid/65/PRDID/200/language/en-GB/Default.aspx
Chris Wilson
Hmmm, TV in the workshop = not a lot gets done It would be nice to be able to catch the news and stuff though, never knew you could feed a PC output into a TV, I suppose that's because I've never had a digital TV (no, really, we are still analogue with proper CRT's ). Thanks for the info, opens up an area I hadn't thought of.
Branners
A few options on the TV. You can run digital with a small aerial (or bit of wire) hanging out the aerial socket. Or if you have networking from the main house you can run TV over the network cabling so can take a feed off your Sky if you have it. The-Plethora
B&Q sell several wall mounts, as the others say almost all (or perhaps all) monitors these days should have the mounting holes on the back, I think there are 2 different spacings dependant on monitor size but the B&Q brackets have both sizes drilled. TheTurtleshead
Funny you should mention it! I have, in the shed, a couple of 40" LCD Computer monitors. Huge bloody great things, think they are for in bars/shops, that sort of thing. I use one as my computer monitor, it is excellent! I think theyre a sanyo make or something. I got them as part of a deal a while ago, I need £300 for one to see my money back. Let me know if your interested Oh yeah and I hang it on the wall with 4 sturdy expanding wall bolts, it has slots in the back that will go straight onto a bolt head.
