Sheefa
Hi all Got to choose a new company car now that the Focus ST was stolen. Our options have changed and we no have the choice of: BMW Vauxhall Jaguar Land Rover The reviews of the 123d are stunning. 0-60 in 7 secs, 204 bhp from the 2 litre twin turbo diesel and around 54mpg. It will cost be around £200 for personal use a month + tax (far cheaper than the ST!!!) and my own insurance if I want to go down the employee ownership route. Insurance circa £100 per month. It's around £28,000 with all the good options. Thoughts? My other idea is to get a basic company car for minimal cost (again any ideas from the options above?) and then get my playtoy - Supra or Caterham. Thanks Greg

tkddav3
ive never really been a bmw sorta guy but i guess you cant really argue with 54mpg and loadsa gadgets, but if it was me i would go with the landy or vauxhall. buut it sounds like your sold on the beemer, i never knew you had to pay for a company car
Sheefa
Yeeah maybe the Vauxhall. I really would if I could save the cash and have my own performance car. Our car allowance is £327 per month. My Focus ST was costing me an extra £280 per month in personal use and tax! The BMW would be more because of insurance as I would come off the company insurance. The BMW is great, I'm not sold on the idea yet mate, just looking carefull at my options before I tie myself in for another few years. Cheers. Abz
The 1 series diesel BMW's are pretty good mate, they drive nice, feel pretty solid but it is small inside. If this car is mainly for commute then I'd get a basic car & with the savings get a nice toy
Havard
Never liked the one series, they look like a huge boot..!!

If I went for the BMW then I'd still have to pay £9,000 at the end of the 4 years to purchase the vehicle and it might not be worth that!! I'll be looking out for a decent small single supra I think. The 1 series seems to lose money quite quickly & if your paying £300 a month for it, in 4 years you would have forked out £14,400 & then like you said you would need to pay £9k to own the car which could be worth just £8k then? Plus the novelty of the BMW diesel soon wears off when you are driving it everyday. I'd be looking at a toy mate

RedM
Never liked the one series, they look like a huge boot..!! That's just the hatchback though. The coupe version is a stunner and, despite appearances, has a larger boot. I'd love the 135d coupe.
sideexitsupra
Does your company charge you for personal use as well as you paying BIK tax charge? Not come across that before. Think the 123 will be a bit of a beast. I have the Merc C250 D which is also a twin turbo with similar power and it flies! Just make sure there is enough room in it for you. Will feel much smaller than the Focus, because inside it is! If you are tall or large make sure you can get comfy. I had a one series a few years ago and regretted getting after about 3 months. Also, don't expect 50mpg.
