What can I get for my N/A Auto as a p/x for a new car?

Didn't want to put this in Supra chat as it's more about getting a good deal on a new car rather than about the Supra.

But I'm looking at p/x the N/A Supra against a new car and the dealership has a really good deal on at the moment (basically 0% APR) with a £5500 deposit, so do you think a dealer would take my Supra for £5.5k (as the deposit basically) and maybe knock off a little aswell(or is that pushing it?)

For what it's worth it's a facelift 96 Auto N/A in reasonable condition with about 70k miles.

Unless it's a specialist garage I doubt they'd touch a grey import, and if they do it'll be for a stupidly low price. You could always ask, but when he grabs his Glasses Guide and sees that your car isn't in there he'll get his back up immediately.

Sorry, should of mentioned, it's a main dealer.

Many Toyota dealers won't even service import Supras, so I can't see them giving you a px. Even if they did, I reckon you'll be looking at around £1k.

Didn't it start life as a TT though?

Yeah, TT6.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Supra but now I have my aerotop for nice days I want something nice and new for a daily and also the aero will feel a bit more special as it just feels like the one I use everyday when I get in it.

It would be against the hairdresser/mangina/poofs BMW :D, so I'm just think that rather than trying to get them to move on the price at the top end I could maybe get them to move on the deposit, but I don't really know how car dealers work.

I doubt you'd be able to give it to a dealer Marc. Why can't you sell it privately and then go back with cash.....kerching..!!

Ease more than anything else, this Supra's not perfect in my eyes, it's fine for most other people but I don't like selling a car with niggles(I'd never make a good car dealer) such as a marked dash, wind noise from somewhere and peeling headlights.

Does it have to be a new car? I am assuming you are looking at the 0% finance rather than spending a big chunk on a decent car?

It basically works as 0% finance as the dealer 'donate's' 4k towards the price of the car which covers the interest.

I change my mind like the wind, but I want to get back to the 2 seater open top motoring world I had with the MX5 but is also refined for daily driving and comfy for long distances, so one minuite I'm looking at a £16k boxster, then a £36k Z4, then a £9k S2000, all of which give me an open top and all have also given me that same 'fizzing feeling' that the Supra did when I first sat behind the steering wheel of one in a showroom many years ago.

I used to work for vauxhall main dealer and we wouldnt touch any grey imported car. Unless the trader we delt with was looking for a certain car for themselves. Then we would ring them up and say we have a supra or a skyline give us a good price to get them from one car to another. If you know what i mean.

Sell it private!!

Don't they all just get thrown to auction though?

Cheers for the advice anyway guy's, looks like it'll have to be private, anyone want an N/A Auto with exotic wind noise for £5.5k? :D.

Get the S2000. They are a lot of car for the money. The boxster at £16K is a lot of cash for a poor mans Porsche and the BMW will depreciate like a falling stone if you buy a new one.

That's how I used to think but having test driven an '03 996 Carrera 2 and an '06 Boxster S, I would take the Boxster, the 911 felt 'lacklustre' it didn't seem to give me any thrills and the interior felt like it was out of 90's jap car, admittely the Boxster had a similar interior but it was so chuckable and incredibly forgiving, it was just oodles of fun(not just lots, it was oodles!!:D)

My dream is still one of the new Corvette ZR1's though, for completely the opposite reason, after being lucky enough to drive a Z06 I fell in love with them, there unpredictable, dangerous, tacky and fuel guzzling monsters, but that is what makes them so great :D

To be honest, I can't fault the Boxster it is a great car though unless you are going for the 3.2 S you might find it a little lacking in the power department. If it is a daily driver then without a doubt go the Honda S2000 route for the drop top twisty road reliable without being ripped off if something goes wrong situation.

Actually sod that, buy my Type R it's only 3.5k! :D
