How to make the Supra more responsive??

Just before I ask this question my engine is fine and doesn’t hesitate or anything

I was just thinking about this on a passing thought (so excuse my ignorance)

Some cars when not in gear can rev very quickly (really responsive) and I just wondered why that is?

As far as I can fathom it’s down to Cylinder compressions, Cams, lighter balanced components, amount of ancillaries etc.

How can the response on the 2JZGTE be improved?

OR another cost free option - strip weight.

But that wont change the response of the engine to be honest just driving input.

Its a hard trade off between response and drive ability and also a little tricky trying to decide where you should take the weight from and where to keep it. You could go all out and with Titanium internals, knife edged crank, lightweight flywheel an so on but with hugely reduced inertia from the lightweight parts it would be a ball ache to drive on the street and in traffic IMO.

ITBs alone make a huge difference in response on there own. Bumping the compression up would help with off boost drive ability and help it pick up better.

Just my opinion though :)

really? why would less compression make it more responsive? almost all high responsive N/A engines are high compression ratio. higher compression would make the piston travel faster/harder down. i could be wrong.. but it dont sound right imo.

I never said less I said bump it UP meaning increasing static CR. If I remember correctly with higher CR you get stronger exhaust pulses which give an increase of response from the engine.

My engine and induction has had a lot of what Chris mentioned, it certainly is far more responsive than stock. However, it all comes at a relativel large cost.
