Pete
So after us being together for 18 years and deciding to finally tie the knot in Rhodes, it looks like the Greek Air Traffic Control are poised to strike from 03:00 Saturday until 03:00 Monday. Unfortunately having booked EasyJet direct flight from Liverpool my only option is a later flight on Wednesday, a day after the wedding which is on Tuesday 20th. There are 15 guests, at a worst case just myself and Vicki just need to travel as our parents are already out there. Does anyone have any bright ideas I may not have come up with? So far: Drive to southern Italy and get a ferry. Time scales? Petrol/Car hire/Toll roads Fly to southern Italy and get a ferry. Buy a cheap car and drive to Athens dumping the car through a parliamentary window, ferry to Rhodes (dodgy countries, long way, fuel costs, reliability of car, time) Get alternative flight BA/Olympic from London to Athens then hope I can get flight from Athens to Rhodes around the chaos. Pete
I could possibly bunk off work and take a flight tomorrow from LGW which will be a PITA to come back to Liverpool. Looking like the best bet, but doesn't help the guests. I just really hope the courts decide to make this an illegal strike and stop it. but no promises, even the king of organising can have an off day Do you know him? Max Headroom
Coach trip? Give these a ring? Not anything to do with me but would give you a quote so you would know what was occuring http://www.bmcoaches.co.uk/fleets.htm
Pete
Thanks chaps. I've figured out I can get to Bodrum (Turkey) and boat it across, it's worth booking the tickets just in case with a £30 per head cancellation fee. I can live with that should the worst happen. It's looking brighter as their little meeting they had to cause 4 hours disruption tomorrow has been declared 'illegal' by the courts. Here's hoping they do the same for the weekend strike too! Chris Wilson
Pete sent me a text this morning. He and his future wife Vicky are now there, and guests are en route AOK. He claimed he was relieved. Shouldn't that be after the wedding....
