redsupraman82
hey guys, well finally fitted everything after doing my N/A to TT swap but she wont start! she will crank but not fire! after looking under the car and checking fuel lines they were empty! so i guess i have a fuel pump problem. i can hear any whining when i turn the key, how can i check or resolve this?? by the way it was a N/A auto N/A (94) and have put in a 97 TT lump and a w58 with a manual ecu which was already connected to the engine when i got it, including a flywheel so im asuming it came from a manual set up! Please help i really want to start her today!
Guest Budz86
I take it you mean you can't hear any whining when you try and start it? Have you check the simple things like fuses and connections? Maybe get a voltmeter to check you have power to the pump? Failing that it might be a blockage in one of the lines. Odin
mate i had the same problem recently - to check if it is the relay etc take out the efi 1 and bridge it with a paperclip to see if the car starts?also see if u have 12v to the coilpacks and pin 1a in the loom(black and orange wire) I was also told this problem could be fixed by splicing pin 24a(grey wire) into pin1a(black and orange) but this unfortunately didnt work for me - thats basically where i got to before i had to call Ryan at 2bar tuning to help me out so if i find out anything ill let you know Edited September 12, 2011 by Odin (see edit history)

redsupraman82
would i need to do the 12volt mod?? i have tried bridging in in the diog port but still nothing!
Chris Wilson
Just take power straight to the pump, under the cover ion the rear hatch area (under the spare wheel) Pull the connector plug off and take 12 volts direct to the pump terminals, be careful with polarity. redsupraman82
cool i will try that, but which teminal is which on the plug i dont want to short anything out!
redsupraman82
would this be the same as doing the 12volt mod or would it mean running it straight from the battery?
Chris Wilson
I would check which of the terminals at the tank connector go to the pump, check the polarity, and take a feed direct for initial testing, then work back from there if the pump runs. You may have to take the tank unit out to check the connectors / polarity, I can't find a drawing. BE VERY CAREFUL OF SPARKS AND PETROL / PETROL FUMES!!!!!! redsupraman82
pk a quick update..... i have checked the pump and that works im even getting power to the connector to the pump. however im getting no voltage from the fuel pump ecu? is there any way i can bypass it??
Swampy442
You can bypass the ECU using a paperclip and shorting ports B+ and Fp in the diagnostics connector under the bonnet. That will put the pump to 12v output but beware, that clip get very hot!
redsupraman82
i have already tried that and no go. however i dont think im getting voltage to the right ports on the plug for the fuel pump

David P
I had similar problems after swapping the fuel pump in my N/A for one from a UK TT, the cure was to use a fuel pump ecu from a TT.
redsupraman82
i see where your coming from but i have no power even going to the N/A FP ECU i think its something to do with this EFI 2 business. Thanks for the input though david, so if anyone has a TT FP ECU please can i borrow it??
David P
Is there any chance there could be a fault between T.T. and N/A looms?
