choice of Gauges ?

I see lots of Defi gauages, and unless I am missing something they have a major issue. If you want to monitor oil pressure you will want to see how fast it rises on starting, especially from cold.as this can show early signs of oil pump wear, an oil cooler that drains back overnight, early signs of engine cranksghaft bearing wear, etecetera. But the damned things start flicking about, buzzing and generally going mad during a start up. A basic mechanical gauge is far more use than electronic ones that behave like the Defi things.

As an aside I have a hatred of cars with loads of gauges in your field of vision, like screen side pods, if you feel the need to monitor lots of engine data it's usually better, neater, and more reliable to either use a digital dash, or at least gauges that have two or more functions in one unit.

I would want to monitor oil pressure, AFR, boost and, if doing track days, oil temperature.

Agree about the gauge of choice. Oilpressure and Oiltemp (boost if its a aspirated engine)is the main ones imo. AFR is nice when tuning. but in all honestly ive had AFR in like the last 3 cars and i don't really watch it, unless you could have it programed to sound when going to lean/rich its kinda hard to monitor.

Also if the bearings/pump "you name it" is worn. the overall oilpressure would be lower nomatter what right? and the Defi gauges and others are programable for a set amount of pressure/temp if i understand it correct. and they would sound if you get below/above thoose levels. iam sure there are mechanicals stuff that does the same.
