terawua
Okay, Got the dash lights working again, but now the dimmer wont work, and my lights are stuck on low brightness (admittedly a whole lot better than not at all) Anyone got any ideas what the heck I have done now!!! Digsy
The dash dimmer works by using a fixed 12V feed, and earthing all the dash blubs through a wire which can be set at anywhere from 0V (full brightness) to just under 12V (lowest brighness). When I first fiddled with it I assumed that the earth would be fixed at 0V and the feed to the bulbs would be variable, so I ended up with my dimmer working in reverse. DOH! Maybe you have a fixed 12V going to the "earth" side of the dash bulbs. What was it you were trying to do?
terawua
well I didnt really do anything. I just wired in my boost gauge, and obvioulsy tok off the dash to do this. However I took the dimmer feed off the ciggy ashtray thing down near the gear stick. Putting my muiltimeter across the lighting socket, showed that the voltage was only 5.9 volts or something, which was pretty damn low, and only just lights the bulbs. Is there a way to find the pin outs from the dimmer, I suppose I could stick a meter across it to see if its still working.. if not I suppose a trip to maplin is in order. Digsy
Check out the wiring diagrams on MKIV.com. I have them saved at home. If you e-mail me your e-mail address, I'll try to remember to send you the relevant page ASAP.

Digsy
I can "click here to send you an e-mail" from the BBS but I can't actually see your address so that I can send a mail with attachments. If you PM me your address, I'll try to get the diagrams off tonight.
