Odin
Hi guys hope you're all well?Just something i thought i'd share, Recently i did an n/a - tt transplant, prior to this i had owned the n/a for 2 and a half years,i had never had the dirt pans off the bottom before as i hadn't had any reason to take them off,so when i did take them off to start taking the n/a engine out i noticed something quite disturbing - For the whole time i had the car it seems that there had been no bolts on the engine mounts so basically it was the weight of the lump the gearbox, and the few connections holding it in place, I really should have checked something like this when i bought the car but my mechanic told me everything was good with it /slap. I guess im lucky not to have had a bad accident with it and rectified it now but i noticed no movement from the engine when driving..Just goes to show how bulletproof these cars are
Gabriella
You are very lucky it didn't pop off the mounts. It would be a disaster!
Odin
Ha yeah a catastrophe the firewall would have been like butter as the engine came through the car! One thing i wont neglect to check ever again
letmeshowyou
thats scary! Any indication in any service history of who worked on it before?
Odin
I picked it up from Blackburn motorworld a few years ago and it didnt come with any history at all i pretty much know is how many owners it has had and what year it was imported so not really, this is something you wouldnt expect to be 'missing' hence why i didnt take the pans off but as always - expect the unexpected
