Abz
I beat that in a clio mate Yeah but I had... Excuses# Tyres which were barely legal, clutch on its way, 3/4 tank of fuel & a passenger. Oh & one more thing, I also had my 'Apple' fatty PowerBook G4 in the back

I'm 19 stone and my mate, who's car it was, is similar. We were both in for that run. 4. It was my first time running the 1/4 mile. 5. I snatched 3rd Although, you're probably right... it probably was Apple that held you back. Abz
He sure is tonight!!! I think a club member here brought a Clio 182 sport & that thing really shifted! Think he was getting 14.2's (though he did say it was modded).

Attero
If you park with stones/rocks under the car and get out, your paintwork is going to get awfully damaged. Looks cool though! Think you need to watch the video again. It states that the door does not reach underneath the car but pulls within the car itself, thus preventing damage to the any exterior parts. Generally, the concept is a brilliant idea, but there are many flaws in which prevent this from reaching commercial production. Such as the flaws already mentioned in this thread. Electronics and safety.

Scott
That'll teach me to watch things with no sound on Could you not hear the motion pictures of the can of juice underneath the car, on top of stones, showing the door undercover and in complete safety the whole time? I heard that bit.

tbourner
I'm sure it could be made to activate manually if required, it's only on runners. Also it's possible to have an emergency release that pops it out sideways as well. Just don't put the emergency release next to the fuel flap release. Especially for Ed, imagine him trying to find it in an emergency
Havard
A guy in Wigan could have done with this sytem about half an hour ago. Opened his door as the Supra passed a line of parked cars. I swerved and stopped and he calmy closed his door and walked into his house. I then had to debate whether I would have got his attention if I hadn't have swerved and took his door and right leg off? Heyrick
From their FAQ: How do Passengers escape after a bad crash? Jatech has developed a Proprietary Access/Escape System which is built into every Retractable Door vehicle. An Impact Sensor releases all latches after a short built-in time lapse to allow for secondary impacts. The door can then be pushed outwards to the ground as there are no hinges to hold front end of the door in place. Paramedics, Firemen and other accident responding personnel also found that access to passengers would be much improved in any severe accident situation. What happens if the vehicle experiences power failure? Our vehicles are equipped with a Manual Override which can be operated from inside or outside the vehicle.
