AJI
The World Cup starts today. How do you think England are gonig to do realistically? I thought the warm up games showed some signs of readiness but they still fell a long way from the mark of demonstrating they can beat the likes of any of the tri-nations. But then actual cup games tend to ramp up the efforts of everyone involved and I think when England go in to a match with the right players in the right attitude in the right game plan then they can be the team to do it. l33wgn
Tbh I wouldnt be putting money on anyone but new Zealand but at the same time it's looking like wilkinson is going to get some game time and as you say in a tournament anything can happen
drift_bear
after the impressive first game so far by new zealand, i would say they are looking like the fav, but i will hold judgement untill i see the rest of the games tonight/early morning! i think ireland will be a team to watch and might pull of some upsets and good results. AJI
NZ v Tonga result was always going to be predictable. I saw parts of the game from our work's TV in the kitchen area and they looked fairly organised in defence and attack. But Tonga looked like they were able to put pressure on them and bowl over for a try. The scrummaging from Tonga looked like the NZ pack didn't know what to do with them just before the try. So, good result for NZ but hard to say if they'd be on top vs the likes of South Africa or Australia.

Hammer
England still a long way off NZ, Auz & SA. Will be a good experiance for them and will be interesting to see if any of the northern hemisphere teams can give the big three a run for their money. NZ off loading and handling looked really good in the first game, very comfortable.

TopgunTT
If that England performance was anything to go by then their were not going to go very far.
Tony
If that England performance was anything to go by then their were not going to go very far. We played crap & won, thats a winning team to me?
AJI
Yep, not a convincing performance by our lads this morning. I thihk Dallaglio got it spot on in the after match comments in that England got sucked in to the stop-start forwards distruption type of game. Made it a messy and mostly frustrating game to watch, especially when England were giving away penalty after penalty. Anyone see the hit Courtney Laws made on their #13 ? I'm surprised they didn't rush on with a mop and bucket after that!
Ian W
What a game and a massive pat on the back to Ireland!

Hammer
Brilliant display by Ireland. Worked to a good game plan and really stuck it to the Aussies. The Irish forwards were immense. Congrates to them.
