garetheves
I could borrow for a few weeks? got a load of old tapes that ive never been able to edit/copy to pc/dvd as my old camera packed in. Theyve been sat on a shelf for years and id love to transer all of them to the pc so i can edit them. Obviously would need all the necessary cables and programmes as well, and would likely need them for a few weeks as i dont work fast lol While on the topic can anyone recommend a good "free" video editting software ? Pixelfill
how do you plan on capturing them Gaz? I have a miniDv camcorder, however I've never managed to get the dv connection to work. if you are going to capture via analogue (Composite or SVIDEO), you are welcome to borrow it. Obviously if you are after digital capture it's no use to you Mike
garetheves
Cheers Mike. Not sure yet, never done it before Was just hoping to capture the vids onto pc, edit them and copy to DVDs for safe keeping. Didnt know you could do a digital copy as well as an analogue. thought the only way of capturing was analogue.

Pixelfill
Yeah mini DV is a format that stores the video in digital format, so you should be able to get the data off the camcorder straight to your pc, but as I say, for whatever reason mine refuses to talk via the firewire connector. If you want to try via an analogue connection then give me a bell - but you'll need a video capture solution for your pc. Mike
