hadyn
Im not a big gamer but I thought i'd buy Star Wars battleground for my new slimline PS2 yesterday. I really want to play this game online, so what exactly do I need and what do I do? I've got a USB broadband modem connected to my PC and a basic network card in the PC too. Do I just connect the PS2 to my network and put the IP settings into the PS2? I've read about routers etc, so can someone please elaborate? I'd ideally want something wireless and cheap so I could have my PS2 downstairs with my TV linked to my internet connection which is upstairs. Your advice would be most appreciated techno-gods! Bobbeh
I believe you will need a router that will support the PS2 connection, you also need a cat5 crossover cable. I have the network kit and cable etc, but my router isnt compatible, newer routers are, check out places like DLINK or Linksys' websites for details. You should be able to directly plug your PS2 into your router if its compatible.
hadyn
Forgive my ignorance but what is a router? Can you post me some pictures?
Bobbeh
Like a network hub with more intelligence. You plug your cable/ADSL into it, the router takes the ip, other connections plug into the router etc and it passes out local ips to the devices connected, like your PC, printer, PS2 for example. A typical example: http://www.swlink.net/~styma/SunAtHome/befsr41.jpg

Bobbeh
They vary in price from £50-100 usually, totally depends on what you want to use it for etc, how many connections you want to support, whether you want wireless etc Check out this link for an idea of normal (non wireless) routers: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Routers.html
