I think you would be better with double valve springs given the power you are running. I assume you have some fairly wild cams? Better with the doublers As above, these are fitted to mine but i never intended going above 7.5k rpm, your build is going to be upwards of that so i would sat duals are the way forward.... they are whats fitted in my new head thats on the shelf, they will be changed i think but was just curious what results people have had ? my current engine is on hks 272s not sure if il reuse them or not yet they are basically brand new ! they are making big claims about there springs i just wanted to see if there true ? Chris Wilson Posted September 7, 2011 Share Posted September 7, 2011 You must remember that on a turbo or super charged engine not only have the springs to close the valves properly at whatever the engine revs to, but also to resist the boost pressure on the backs of the valve trying to stop them closing. If you have a seat area of say 1.5 square inches and a boost pressure of 30 PSI, that takes 45 pounds off the spring rate. You should also never OVER spring a valve as it reduces valve train life, creates heat and friction, and saps power. I ALWAYS say use the springs the CAM maker recommends, only mix and match if you know EXACTLY what you are doing.
