Chris Wilson
Only been once before, had the wife in with me, and the infield section is very twisty for a heavy old lorry like my old Skyline R33 GTS-t, (well, that's my excuse ), but thought I'd post it up. EDIT Modded video with more data: and a link to Google earth with track overlay at http://www.gatesgarth.com/rock.kmz
chazuk
Very nice Chris , how are you doing the overlay what does one need for it to work ?
pedrosixfour
Race driver through and through! The only thing you won't use as an excuse is a misfire, as that would reflect badly on your work! Still, I can't imagine there was much machinary there to trouble you though.
TubbyTwo
Looks a fair pace round there Chris! Like the overlay on the video as well with the throttle % its nice to actually see a track vid where you can see what driver input is happening
Chris Wilson
It's a right fiddle to be honest. My Motec ecu gives the log (I forgot to add the GPS on track position track map...), and their i2 analysis software lets you export the log as a .csv file. I then use a video app called Race Render to synch what items from the log I want, added as charts, numerals, gauges or whatever, on screen with the video, and save as an .mpg or .avi file. Motec sell a device called VCS which is a video capture system that does everything fully automatically, but it is not HD. They are bringing out an HD version which I think I will look seriously at, as this messing about is a real PITA and very time consuming. ScottC
Hi Chris. Is it possible to create a video file of just the charts/gauges etc?
Chris Wilson
I would think so, yes, you can see the stuff at www.racerender.com and there's a demo software You need a data log that's in .csv format or a supported ecu. I *THINK* some support for data from the OBDII port is maybe available, but I haven't looked, 99% of stuff I deal with is on aftermarket ecus.
