Monster supra
Hi guys I have just replaced head gasket Got car back together & it starts ok But When i put foot on accelerator all power drops , car almost stalls & i loud squelley noise like air being released from balloon while stretching the neck of it ! Sounds like its from the trottle body area Any ideas , been trying for two days now & not got much hair left.
dwayne
have you rechecked all the vac lines? closing one of them can make the power drop when you accelerate (think its the one going to the fpr). i'd go all over the inlet side following all vac lines till you find one you havent put on in the right place or has a split. if that fails you could post up a vid of whats happening to see if you can jog peoples memory if they have had a similar thing happen before
Monster supra
will give that idea a go Will let you know very soon
Monster supra
have solved the horrible noise, am just left with it hunting for power, starts fine, idles fine, but when the throttle is pushed it picks up really slowly? have checked inlet valve no split or leak, still puzzled on this last bit!!! absz
have you checked the timing for tdc as there are two marks on the crank pulley can be 10 degrees out

David P
Then you dont have a MAP sensor so scratch that, check the valve timing J spec N/A's have MAP too. Fixed to the bulkhead connected with a little rubber pipe to the inlet manifold. David P
That operates the ACIS valve. Edit: no it doesn't, which country are you in? That's a U.S. spec diagram. Edited September 4, 2011 by David P (see edit history)

absz
If the valve timing is correct then i'll check the ignition timing next and go from there
Monster supra
Do you adjust the ignition timing by rotating the distributor .
absz
Do you adjust the ignition timing by rotating the distributor . yes thats right, did you have the distributor out , do you also know why the headgasket failed ie overheated
Monster supra
I did take the distributor out Is there a certain way that it goes back in , ie markings. The head gasket was changed due to oil leak at front & one at the back. Car was not over heating or smokey.

The rotor arm should be facing towards no1 lead on cap.If not turn the distributor until the rotor arm is facing no1 you can then fine tune using the timing gun once engine is running.
