Guest Tisi
Hey supe community, Who knows the accurate diameter of the 1.1 bar restrictor ring(for J-spec TT) or does anybody have a .dxf for laser cutting? I would prefer stainless steel, 2mm(0,078") or 3mm(0,11") thickness? Thanks ... Cheers Chris
Supranature
There is no exact science to restrictor rings, ie. 58 mm wont always give you 1.2 bar for example. Whifbitz, a trader on here do a RR which many people have used with success. You are best to get an electronic boost controller if you want it to be right, along with, probably, a 1 bar RR. Have a read of this thread http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?249057-Maximum-boost-on-stock-TT-after-decat&highlight=bossco from post 8 onward he lists a few measurements he has made in order to acheive a (for him) desirable boost level. Nic
As said there is no specific size that will make 1.1bar on every Supra, the size will vary depending on a number of factors; how restrictive the exhaust is, the diameter of the decat pipes, what gear you are in, ambient temperature, elevation (it'll be lower at the top of the Austrian Alps compared to at sea level), condition of engine/turbos, etc. Best to buy one and test what boost it makes, then adjust the size of the hole until you achieve the boost you are wanting. Note: you will see higher boost in higher gears when the engine is under more load, ie. if the car makes 1.1bar in 5th gear it may only make 0.9bar in lower gears. You will also see the boost vary slightly depending on air temperature, ie. the boost will be slightly higher in the winter compared to the summer.
