Guest George89
Hi, I am notoriously known for my late braking and i currently have j-spec brakes which i can fade them in seconds. I will be upgrading brakes soon but was wondering for the mean time is their anything i can do to the jspecs brakes to avoid brake fade? what discs and pads? Also i was looking at the ksport 380mm but i really don't want 19" alloys. I need advice on what brakes to get, I was thinking of uk brakes but i don't see them being able to not fade. Anyone have experience with 356mm ksports? I know you might be thinking decent uk brakes (Pads and discs) won't fade but i am sure a few 170mph - 40mph will fade them pretty quickly. Also they need to work on the road and track. Before anyone mensions i can't afford AP Racing/Brembo brakes
imi
Have a search for K Sport Brakes on here as the subject of their braking performance has been discussed in detail. also in regards to improving your Jspec Brakes, goodridge brake lines, better brake fluid and CW pads will help - not to mention learning how to brake. imi
Nic
Talk to Chris Wilson about the race pads he supplies, Motul RBF600 brake fluid, braided lines and a brace for the brake master cylinder will help get the best out of the smaller brakes. bodilx6
^what Nic says^ Also, I've been running UK brakes, TRD discs, CW lines and pads with Sparco fluid on the Nürburgring a few times now. As soon as they get up to temp, the pedal goes a tiny bit soft but stays there. I've never had fade but also never tried to brake from 170mph - low speeds several times. 120+ to low speed consecutively works fine though. But both on the Ring and smaller tracks they have worked out fine. The main thing about the UK spec brakes is that fitment is a straight swap (except for a bit of cutting the dust shields) but also you know the brake bias will stay where it should be. No point in upgrading to big brakes and not getting that right. Do a search and you should find a thread on calculations on big brake efficiency when used on the supra. Going big is far from better unless you really dive into it.
Dnk
Where do you brake from 170 to 40 repeatedly, most circuit use i've done hasn't got close to 170.
ManwithSupra
I have a front (8pot) and rear (4 pot) 356mm Ksport kit on my Supra. Before i had the Ksports i had a full set of UK's calipers discs etc, and I honestly can say that I prefer the Ksports over UK's. I found the UK brakes to be a bit numb and that didnt insipre confidence in late braking, I also found that I did on a number of occasions cause the UK brake setup to fade. Since I have installed the Ksports on my car I have much much better pedal feel and I have not yet got them to fade... at all. Here is my inital review on the Ksports - http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?206375-K-Sport-Brake-Kits&p=2934804&viewfull=1#post2934804 And at Japfest 2011 - http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?206375-K-Sport-Brake-Kits&p=3114369&viewfull=1#post3114369 Since those events i have the Carbing brace installed as shown above (with the MC stopper) so we will see how they perform at Trax and a all day Track day at silverstone the week after Edited August 30, 2011 by ManwithSupra (see edit history)
Scooter
Get Chris Wilsons 'Race' spec pads, a good quality fluid and keep the stock disks. You will see a huge improvement in the j-spec brakes capabilities.

Airfield and depends on how much power your running, Just because you can't get to 170 on the straights doesn't mean other people cant. hodge
I've got D2s on the front of mine with J-specs on the rear. Apart from the pads being very dusty I can't fault them. They will stop on a penny.
Guest George89
Fair enough, what power are you running in your TT ? Am not saying i can get too 170 on a circuit but i sure can get too 170 on airfields and private road testing. I still can't see uk spec brakes not fading under heavy brake use constanly. (also have R888 tyres which fades the brakes a lot faster then road tyres.

imi
Learning how too brake? please don't even go their. thank you I would have thought that if your braking requirements supersede what the uk brakes are designed for then a decent setup by AP or similar would be the more logical step. search on the forum as it has been covered before. Guest George89
Learn how to grammar. I am not writing a letter to the court so i don't need to spell perfectly. Its just a forum where we all love supra's no need to moan. A friend of mine just told me today he can get stop tech at cost price. He recently got 6pots 380mm discs on his m3. Are stop tech worth the extra money over Ksports? Also does anyone know where i can get endless CCX pads from? i have been searching everywhere with no luck. Chris Wilson
If you REALLY have the need to brake repeatedly from a genuine 170 to 40 mph you need proper endurance type brakes, with serious size endurance spec disc castings, massive calipers and big pad areas, with proper race type pads. You will have to go to AP, Alcon, or Brembo for them, from their race lines. It'll all be bespoke stuff, with bells and brackets needing drawing and fabricating. You are talking of dissipating huge heat energies repetitively. You may even have to look to water cooled calipers. If the need is genuine you will find the off the shelf stuff won't do the job.
