benedwards64
I recentely replaced my aftermarket 18s with some stock TT 17s running 235 profile tyres on the front. I had the tracking checked and adjusted at the same time, but ever since the front end has felt a bit twitchy. It's like, on a straight road with the occasional surface defect, the front wheels are fighting each other and the car's all over the road. I'm guessing the garage has cocked up the tracking, so it's in at the moment being re-checked. Is there anything else that could be causing it though? I assume TT 17s should be fine on an NA? Dnk
Wait till you get the tracking results first as it could be lots of things

benedwards64
Well, geo set-up is fine and the tyre pressures are fine. I've recently had new shocks and springs fitted, and the garage checked the subframes and all other suspension components at the same time, so that's ruled out. The only thing I can think is that the front tyres on the new wheels are fairly worn on the inside edge, suggesting the car they came off had a pretty dodgy geo setting itself - I'm going to replace them fairly soon anyway but they're still legal so I wasnt in such a hurry. Could this be the cause of my tramlining?

Could this be the cause of my tramlining? Yes, i get this on my car when the tyres are worn on the inner edge. The worst place i find for this is the first lane on the motorway or the first lane on a dual carrigeway due to the surface not being very flat because of all the heavy goods vehicles. I rarely use these lanes if i can help it What were the geo results ? Edited August 26, 2011 by Dnk (see edit history)
benedwards64
Ah, ok that looks like the culprit then. It started happening as soon as the wheels were changed over, and my old tyres were evenly worn and gave no problems. It's not so bad as to be undriveable, it's just kind of annoying at the moment. I'll replace the front tyres and see ho I go from there
