geoffvalenti
I'm in 2 minds whether to go the JAE this year also. Ater reading their site, it seems that unless you arrive in a Japanese car, your going to be at best unwelcome, and worst, not allowed in at all. I was planning this year, as last year. to turn up to the event for Fri, Sat,Sun, in my motorhome, mainly because 2 people and a fecking great Weimaraner don't travel too comfortably in a Supra, and secondly, if I've just paid £40k+ for a motorhome, I don't really want to sleep in a fcuking tent On reading their site, they're not prepared to accept club membership cards as proof, and require some sort of authorisation from the club, to allow you in as a support vehicle, if you're not in a jap car. So I could enter in a rusty Datsun, and that would be OK, but as a Supra owner, not in his Supra, its going to cause problems. Personally I think that they've got too far up their own arses, and don't seem to be able to differentiate between genuine enthusiasts, who for whatever reason have chosen not to travel in their Japanese car, and chavs who happen to own Japanese cars, out for a piss up
Branners
I think until we try the new venue and new rules its difficult to decide. We have space for 150 cars booked but on Friday and Saturday we wont be anywhere near that so there should be space for 'support vehicles', Sunday is a different matter as we will probably need all the space available. If Ray is happy to give out his mobile I would ask him for it and if the gate get stroppy then get Ray up there for a 'chat'. If we find the venue doesnt work out for us then we decide what to do next year so any feedback after the event is worth making. Im personally concerned about how we are going to get 150 Supras in on the Sunday. When we were at Billing we started with a few cars (40) and slowly built up, we knew the location and knew what it took to get the cars in. This new site is completely unknown to me so thats why Im worried about it. Hopefully it will all work out and be a great venue. I also think we should pick a quiet weekend and actually have a Supra meet at Billing as well with camping etc. No reason why we cant have our own little meet there at some point as well. At the end of the day there's sure to be lots of room somewhere, we'll sort it out. (Bagsy behind Branners from the convoy!)
Guest Alex B
There were a few reasons The Organisation decided on a change of venue this year, I don't know too much about the political side of it, but I know Booty and Fuggles made a long trip to speak to the Billing management only to turn up and nobody was there to speak to them! Billing was getting too small for JAE and security was difficult as its a public campsite, (we were trade last year and had a 8' x 2' signboard stolen), these are 2 problems I know The Org was keen to improve. I've spoken to both Claire and Fuggles several times and its clear they are both mad about Jap cars and do this for the love of it, Harry Tune is only doing this to make money, just like he does for the American car shows, (which we've been to many times too), Billing have seen how much potential there is in the Jap scene and want to cash in on it, the fact they are doing it on the same weekend is obviously to try and take custom from JAE. Also, last I hear Billing were calling the show Japanese Auto Experience, JAE Alex B

Branners
bear in mind it was 11.30 in the morning. When I got to the gate I had to laugh, I said 'Im here for the jap show', guard said 'you will be very disappointed, theres nobody there, they are all at Peterborough'. I saw 1 silver Supra driving away from the show field and about 15 other jap cars. Decided to make the most of it and went to the rides with my children, and even that was disappointing. So I hope Peterborough is better. JB
