Kopite
i've had stuff saved on my hard disk for a while (no not porn ) and a lot of it seems corrupted all of a sudden. not had any power surges that i'm aware of, any other reasons why this might of suddenly happened? sound is very intermittent and the picture jumps forwards a lot (as in skips a few seconds out) - any way of salvaging this. was meant to be recordin all 6 hours of the champs league final onto DVD for my bro
caliAl
sounds like the actual hard drive could be corrupt. Might be worth contacting Sky
MARTIN R
Take a hammer to it Seriously though, I was thinking of getting Sky + although it seems to be unreliable so having second thoughts
Kopite
gutted. will give them a ring and see what they say, i hate havin to ring Sky though because they're useless - always get passed from one person to the other who has no idea what's goin on! Bill Prawn
Getting probs with mine too. Records things not set, doesn't record things when it is set or just fails. Sometimes it doesn't stop recording and we get 8 hours of overnight tv. We have only one item stored that takes up 5% but the info says we only have 67% free!!! Out of warranty now so not much Sky can do.

martynb
Does the Sky+ status say "failed" against a recording where it used to be ok or say the recording occupies "0" minutes? AFAIK there is now way back from a recording which shows as failed, but if it simply will not play a recording you may be able to get it back by powering down the box and rebooting it. This has worked for me when another recording has shown as failed but others which appear to be ok simply don't play. Delete the failed recording and reboot and the others may come back. I don't think secret engineers menu is going to help you recover a recording shown as failed but you could trawl through the digital spy av forums which has reams of info on sky+ good luck
Kopite
Does the Sky+ status say "failed" against a recording where it used to be ok or say the recording occupies "0" minutes? good luck no mate, it was ok until today, it recorded fine and ive watched it before and it was ok. just now, theres a few recorded programmes that ive not been able to stick on DVD yet that are playin up with sound and missin bits out. still says "viewed" next to them all
Vaughany
I have had problems with my Sky System, intermittent viewing and freezing picture etc. I contacted Sky and they talked me through a few little scenarios to try and fix it. They then explained that I would need an Engineer and as I was out of warranty it would cost me £65.00. So I thought what the hell and paid over the phone. Funny enough as soon as i paid I had no problems with my satalite at all. When the Engineer turned up I explained this to him, he was independant now, but use to work for Sky. He explained that it did not surprise him that I have not experienced anymore problems after I paid for the callout. He told me that there are loads of conspirancy theories regarding Sky and how they are tampering with peoples signals who dont have warranty to improve their P&L. I admit I am a bit of a synic and you could never proff it but definitely makes you think. Hell if the Goverment can lie then whose to say Sky cant scam us aswell.
