JohnK
Ive just booked my car in for a service at ToyodaTech and they tell me my autobox fluid needs changing this time. Expecting this to be the fluid that costs the national debt of a small african republic I asked how much and was told that its the manual boxes that have the expensive fluid. Is this right, I thought the autobox had to have the toyota type4??? fluid thats about £100 a go? I dont want the wrong fluid put in my box. Steve Cargill
Hi John, there was a thread about this a little while ago. Auto boxs DO need non standard fluid as normal auto-box fluid is not good for them. I think there are two types that will be OK, one is “Toyota Type T-IV ATF Fluid - 08886-81015", but I don't know how much that costs. I think this is a replacment for the older spec special fluid. adi
yep you need the new stuff.. the part number above is correct. Its the new type T-iv which came out in may of last year, and unlike thprevious stuff is compatible with other non t-iv fluids, such as dex II and type t-II. for a full flush youll need up to 16 litres, though you may get 3 or 4 litres back after the flush..dependingon how well they do it. Cost will be over £100 for the fluid im afraid. These guys do a great service and full flush and for a good price.. around £60, but you have to supply the fluid. http://www.vmtp.com
