Suprasteve
anyone seen one of those MR2 with the Ferrari kits on them ? Some young flash tosser parked up in his fake Ferrari outside my work place with all 4 wheels on the pavement, he bowled in to make some enquiries. He starts chatting up the 2 young girls in the office, they spot the car, turned to jelly and were all over him like flies to shit (some girls can be soooo shallow). He turns out to be a small time semi pro footballer for a local team in the Rayman league (???) but obviously thinks hes some kinda big time Charlie driving around in his fake Ferrari. I had to go out the office to get something so on my way I had a nosey around the car, as you do cos I genuinely thought is was a Ferrari at the time but then I noticed it was an automatic and the speedo only went up to 140 mph – I was convinced it was an MR2. This is where the fun started, when I got back one of the girls pipes up with “I bet he’s car will wipe the floor with yours”. The guy asked me, with a cocky tone, what car I drive, whilst still wearing his mirror sunglasses and chewing gum. Well when I told him, he went all shy and made a hasty retreat. – it was fantastic ! Theres more…coincidently that night one of the girls from my office went to a party at a big function hall and guess who was parked in the carpark ! the girl told her boyfriend that it was a fake, so he bursts into the hall shouting at the top of his voice “Who’s the twat with the Ferrari wannabee!?!?” funny enough he wasn’t so cocky and loud then !!! – brilliant !!! To be fair there are very convincing. And if the owner wasn’t such a prick I’d have respected the car greatly.

kosmic
I second what Steve said, most wouldnt look so bad if the guys drving werent such pricks....then again takes a prick to be that pretentious.
Wez
I have seen a few of these at Kit Car shows, if they are done properly with all the right wheels and brakes etc they look very very close to the real thing. The kits as far as I am aware are just replacement body panels that bolt on, shame that the only ones seen on the road are driven by t1t turds. Digsy
There was one at JAE last year. Very nicely done until you got close up to it and spotted the MR2 dashboard. Catching a pretentious tosser out like that must be a moment to savour :-)
Burna
LMAO, why people do it I don't know?!? the size is always a dead give away. I would have just said "How cute! It's like a real ferrari but in miniature!" Bet he's got a 'POLEX' watch too

michael
I know a chap who has one, it's a piece of crap. Just look how big his spacers are http://www.megaboost.co.uk/old/pics/mr2/mk2/ferrari/DCP_2281.JPG More pics of them here: http://www.megaboost.co.uk/old/pics/mr2/mk2/ferrari If you can't afford the real thing why bother? Pete
The proportions are weird. They're very obvious when you know how large a real Ferrari is. Obvious external points are the wrapped rear window, Tbars(!), and overall stumpy look. Some people spend an absolute fortune on Ferrari badges for the steering wheels, wheels and everything to make it look more "authentic". To be fair, they're probably more reliable than a Ferrari, and kids and girls will love it. (Unless they actually get in of course) There's only one I've seen that bothered to do the complete interior upgrade too. There's loads at kit shows, nearly always in the "For Sale" section too. Kopite
it is really annoyin when they think they're actually cool for doin it.
michael
The thing that annoys me most of all is the prices the sellers ask - you see '91 MR2s with these kits up for £19,000 (or listed as 'twin turbo'), it's a £1500 car that's probably had a knock anyway.... just buy a Ferrari Mondial, 308 GT4 or a 400GT, it might not be the most stylish option but at least it's real. cashpoint
Came across one last summer on my way to work first thought ohh ferrari race! then when i got closer and it didn't get any bigger i thought RACE! Was a good copy engine cover was like a mini version of the really thing and had the stickers to just no 355 badge. I can see how they fool people as the are a mini 355. nuttynutz
haha my neighbour's mate has one. mentioned here http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=20316 looks nice, has a nicer interior than the one at JAE last year. it seems to fool other ferrari drivers, they flash him wave as they drive past. 20k he paid for it... ermmm http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/332/car0073lu.th.jpghttp://img321.imageshack.us/img321/4883/car0080lr.th.jpg edit: he paid 20k to get it done like that including buying the car.
