Puller to remove cambelt pulley.

Recommended Posts

I need to remove the bottom pulley to remove the cambelt on my TT.

Does anyone live locally to Gloucester that happens to have a suitable pulley to do the job?

Would really appreciate a loan as it seems pointless to buy a new one to use it once.

Would be happy to contribute to the beer fridge.

Something like this will do it ,http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CALVAN-TOOLS-HARMONIC-BALANCER-PULLER-HEAVY-DUTY-CV189-/130453946014?pt=UK_Hand_Tools_Equipment&hash=item1e5fa93e9e#ht_752wt_905

I have a set like that tucked away in my tool kit, I didnt think this would fit.

Where do you screw the bolts into, are there screw points in the pulley wheel.

Clearly I have not looked that closely yet.

1 trick to undo the bolt is a good quality extension bar 3/4 ideally with a socket on the bolt then wedge the bar under the drivers side chassis and crank the engine over, oh and tell any helpers you have to stand back just incase the bar snaps and takes their head off:innocent:

If you wedge it on the floor on the pass side it is travelling down and cant hurt anyone if it snaps;)

You on about measurments?

Yes, I could measure roughly to the centres of the two holes on the pulley wheel but just thought seeing as it has been done before someone might have that dimension handy so I can drill my two holes in the bracket I am making.

When making the puller use slots instead of holes ;) you dont need to be very accurate then with hole centers :)

That sounds like sloppy engineering, lol..

How are you Dunk, I assume you still have the Supra?

My supra has been in the garage for 1.5 years so hopefully get it out and use it for later this year or early next.

If you use slots it becomes a universal puller ;) :)
