Dnk
Could also be the coupling or knuckle on the steering column
Dnk
Does a Vitara have a rack or steering box ? if its a box then my monies on the idler arm having play in it. Or the box needs adjusting which is usually a lock nut with a screw which you wind in to take the play out of the worm gear. If it is that only adjust by a very small amount (less than 1/8 th of a turn) at a time as you can make the steering very heavy if overdone.
