The spec is : 1998 Champagne silver (I think) 2.4 10v 5 speed manual 2 owners from new 155000 miles 7x seater Tow bar 12 months mot 3 month tax Radio/cassette/6 disk cd changer Just had 2x new front tyres and battery (for mot) Needs a good detail and a little tidying up What should I look out for if I buy it and how reliable are they? Swampy442
My brother has a 2.5t 20v, great car. Very comfy, pretty quick for a big bus. Cant comment on reliability but he's had no problems so far.

Abz
Volvo's are generally quite well built cars, engines are good too. This being a non turbo is good, less things to go wrong then. I'd put in an offer of £500 & then give him £600 for it.
Havard
My ex boss had one and it was a lovely car. Chris Wilson may be a good man to get an opinion from. H.
Si_s Supe
Great car as a run about. I've had two Volvos. Loved them for what they were but don't expect them to handle in any way shape or form!! Like driving a soap dish. Also, you say it's a 2.4, to the best of my knowledge, they never made the phase one with a 2.4. They were 2.0 or 2.5. The later shape phase 2 had a 2.4. Dnk
I've had 3 Volvo estates inc the v70 model and all have been pretty good, i sold my ex business partners v70 at the end of last year, 2.5 XT 10v 99 S, silver, manual box , sub 100k, volvo history, 12 months mot for £1k It failed the mot on front brake hoses and the dip beam wasnt working, also got an advisory on rear suspension bushes but other than that it was a very good car. The Raven
My old man has one a diesel, It puts up with endless overloading, no servicing and other abuse. Shows 155k Awesome cars
grouse
I've always had volvos, I would wait and get a diesel. I have a V70 D5 (03)and get 40 mpg around town. My last one a V70 2.5T (R reg) did 12 mpg around town. Servicing costs are quite high and they eat front suspension bushes and tyres. Other than that they don't go wrong and take an amazing amount of abuse. They are the best fishing wagon around. Carry 3 people plus Coarse match gear no problem
