gavin.starr
Is any one on here into there shooting (awaits the firing blanks jokes:p). I just got my FAC through on friday, and just wondered what peoples recomendations were with regards to indoor and outdoor use. I was looking at the 10-22 ruger semi auto's just for a bit of fun on the indoor range, and something like the Tikka T3 .223 for some longer shots out doors. There is a lad at our range that the Spikes Tactical M4 in .22 and its an absolute bute. What do you have? and what do you recomend. Josh
I've got a BSA Lightning .177 which I've used for target shooting before. I was looking into getting a .22lr and I wanted a CZ 452 Varmint. I don't think I'd have used it enough to warrant getting a FAC, I used to just enjoy shooting stuff in the garden with the .177, so stuck with that. Heyrick
I have a self loading Remington .22 rifle but it is used for pest control on the farm rather than a range. (Thowse peskwy wabbitts!) Sorry, to the animal lovers! I love animals too, honest! I have no idea what is available and what is best for target shooting though sorry. We do use it a bit for target practice - photos are from a couple of years ago when one of my girls had a go.
ronttuk
its more of a case of which quarry you intend to shoot no point using a 243 for rabbits but you cant shoot deer with a 17hmr

gavin.starr
the tikka t3 is something else , have you seen the youtube vids of it in action ? there is a bloke at our range that has one and the operation is like silk. Its really smooth and easy to shoot. But they are a bit pricey for me. Think i may have to go and buy the good old classic gun mart and See what comes up in there. jonathanc
No real maximum AFAIK; http://www.riflesintheuk.com/cartridges.htm Ah what I meant was air rifle not firearms as you need a special license for that Plus afaik some rifles such as the M4 carbine or sniper rifle is not legally available to the public even with license? gavin.starr
Dont think the member of public would be legally allowed to own any of those here You would be surprised, but they do retail from about 3k upwards. .22 is the largest i can get for the moment as i didnt think i would want anything larger so i didnt put it on my wish list when i applied, but i was only thinking along the relms of indoor shooting. If i wanted to start target shooting outdoors the 7.62mm would be fantastic in the L96. http://www.sportingservices.co.uk/rifle_offers.asp
gavin.starr
In the uk anything over .22 semi auto is illegal I wanted to go old school with an M1 garand or the M1 Carbine but cant due to the uk law. And full autos are a no no to the public.

I would like to try out the sniper rifles (Barret M82..mmmmmmm) - always a fan of that. Bet it will have a proper kick

Josh
you wanna try Vietnam and Cambodia m60 ak's and even the rpg's there bloody mental for 75 dollars Cool, not bad! I went to a gun shop/shooting range with my Dad in a bad part of Florida (well not bad, bit "ghetto" though). We shot a Ruger mkIII .22, S&W .38, S&W .357 Magnum/.38 special, .20 gauge (SWAT style apparently) shotgun and the M16. At one point, we finished with one of them and took it back to get the next one and we were just left in the shop for 10 mins with no one answering the bell at the counter. Could have just nicked all the guns and ammo around the room and legged it. Not very secure. Fun though! Brought loads of empty casings/shells back with me and no one said a thing at the airport. gavin.starr
The rpg's they take you out into the jungle to fire them as they are bloody lethal. I didnt fire one but we went with a group that did. I just didnt fancy one not going off propperly so i stood well back. Th M60's were ace and so were the AK's i ran out of money, but there was a cabinet of around 30 rifles and around 20 pistols that you could shoot. I could have spent all day there. But then my entire holiday fund would have disapeared.
Bobbeh
Didnt like the AK, too much kick compared to the much much nicer M16A
