AndrewOW
Ahh, that's what I was thinking of. Did it turn out to be leftover rice or something? I heard it was the leftovers of an alien's pot noodle.
Lbm
Hmm...my post from yesterday bumping this thread was misplaced. It was about extra terrestrial life not existing on OUR planet. This thread is about other planets. Doh!

RCK10
Didn't they find some sort of unknown lifeform in a lake somewhere, not so long ago? Apparently it didn't originate from this planet? (Very vague description but I can't remember any of the details)

RCK10
As said, was out the back having a smoke casually staring at the sky as you do, and noticed a rather bright "star"...After staring at it for a few seconds it started to move away at a fair pace, then faded out . Figured it was just my mind playing tricks, or maybe clouds that just made it seem that way. Saw the same thing almost a week later, roughly in the same position but it was a perfectly clear night. Strange.... Then a few days back, just as i opened the door it caught my eye again. This time, it was already moving but it was at a slower pace in a different position, and took a longer distance to gradually fade out. Definately wasn't a plane, clouds or anything else that would make any sense. Thanks dude, I asked because more & more people are seeing these sightings. Try getting it on camera next time, though sods law it won't happen A random bump here. I hadn't seen this for a good few months now, but over the last week or two it's started appearing again. I seen it again about 5 minutes ago when I was having a smoke. I doubt my old camera would be able to catch it, but sometimes it appears very bright and other times it looks like a slowly moving distant star. I've seen it sat still for up to 10 seconds then gradually fades out, and other times its gone within a few seconds. As much as I want to believe it's some sort of unknown alien flying saucepan, is anyone any closer to figuring out what it actually is? It seems it's been sighted quite a lot over the UK, but I've never seen or heard of any plane that can move at that speed, stop instantly and then move off at speed again so effortlessly. Graham1984
I do believe in life on other planets. This can't be the only planet in the universe with life on it. I do hope some other life forms are discovered before I die More people/things for you to top up the post count too
Colin-mkiv
There has to be life on other planets, it would be very surprising if there weren't other lifeforms in this Galaxy. Also, considering how many billions of other galaxies there are, there is absoltuely no way that there isnt other life somewhere. I wonder if these other lifeforms are thinking the same thing, or if other lifeforms have already found us? I believe that there's a starman, just waiting in the sky, he'd like to come and meet us but he thinks he'll blow our minds.
Tricky-Ricky
I am certainly more inclined to believe that there is other life out there, rather than a supreme being/creator, i have seen enough odd things over the years, to reinforce this. So if i where a being from another galaxy, that had enough intelligence and technology to want to explore other galaxy's, and came across this planet, i would be keeping my distance, as would anyone given our predisposition to abusing and destroying each other, in fact the hot topic could be "should we try and save these poor fools" or it could be that they are selling tickets for our eventual world war/big bang;) Thats if they are not contemplating a quick realestate takeover before the event. mellonman
im glad this thread is still going life on other planets there just must be just look how life is on this planet there are some odd life forms out there life really is just ammeo acids as a bactira and the rest is just evolution over time there is our galaxy the milky way now there is plenty of chances for life in our galaxy the sweet spot not to near the centre and not too far out. but if not there are another million galaxys out there to try from, weather they could reach us or waant to is another matter just look how much has changed on this planet in the last 100 years give it another 1000 and things might understood more
Lbm
Ive always thought there had to be some sort of life form on other planets, yes. Even more so lately. Seen a few strange things at night recently while standing out the back having a smoke... Was it a cigar shaped object?

RA28
Our ability to evolve and progress so rapidly as the human race is driven by our unique ability to question that which we do not understand. Personnally, I believe that God was a creation of man to explain that which at the time was unexplainable. The God of the volcano must be angry, let's throw someone in to keep him happy. The sun has gone, we had better slaughter a virgin to bring it back. Most of us now understand the principles of an unstable earths crust causing volcanoes and the mechanics of a solar eclipse, so all those goats and virgins can sleep easy. If you do believe in a God, then you have to ask who created your God? Or do you simply switch off the part of your brain that seeks to question and accept that God was always there? I often look at the sky and wonder what is at the end of it. I do not know and probably never will. We should stop troubling ourselves over these matters, get in our Supras and accept that there is only one thing worth worshipping. The god of straight six twin cam petrol driven beasts. Here endeth todays lesson.
ubersonic
I believe the is other life out there if only because the odds are in favour of it. Nowhere in the bible does it say god didn't create worlds before/after earth (or that Jesus was not a velociraptor but thats another discussion point) and lets face it the bible is a what ~3000 year old book thats been translated/interpreted (not the same thing) dozens of times over the years, who know what it was meant to say. Hell if an atomic war ever kicks off imagine what the survivors millennia from now will make of the sacred Harry Potter texts rofl.

RCK10
Was it a cigar shaped object? No it was shaped like this! http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/94/Joint.jpg Shhhh. Your not supposed to tell anyone about that! I'd really like to find out what this mysterious object is that keeps appearing, or if anyone else has seen it or knows what it could possibly be? It doesn't seem to move like any aircraft that I've seen or heard of

AJI
it appears very bright and other times it looks like a slowly moving distant star. I've seen it sat still for up to 10 seconds then gradually fades out, and other times its gone within a few seconds. Sounds very much like you are seeing over head passing satallites. As the sky starts to go dark you can often see them and they become more and more clear the darker the sky gets. They are basically reflecting the sun light back down to your viewing level. But obviously as they pass in to the earth's shaddow they fade. Depending on the angle they are travelling and the distance away from you they can appear to be moving slowly or quite fast compared to a passenger plane. As I am out in the countryside I see them a lot on clear nights. I can sometimes catch four or five of them criss-crossing the sky at various angles in the course of about 20mins or so. What is a rarer sight is the ISS. This can appear quite bright in the right conditions.
Lbm
My quoted figures from late last year of 500 million planets in our Galaxy was just plain wrong, stupid, ignorant and ridiculous of me. I meant to say over 100 billion planets. Just in our Galaxy. http://www.space.com/14200-160-billion-alien-planets-milky-galaxy.html
