pjavon
I'm in the middle of re-moving my stock (black) suspension but for the life of me I can't seem to get the actual coilover out of the front. I've read this thread and it doesn't seem to be a major problem, although these are different shocks so could be shorter. I was hoping I wouldn't need to remove the wishbone but i'm running out of idea's. Spring clamps will only close the spring up so aren't helping as the gas shocks are hard to pull down and close up as well. I've removed all the bolts and the anti rollbar strut but can't maneuver the spring out through the top wishbone. Any help really appreciated
Kirk
You a really big bar to pull the suspension right down so get yourself an extra body. The easier/alternative way is indeed removing the top wishbone which isn't hard at all. In fact it makes it much easier IMO.
bignum
Just take out the long bolt( holds the wishbone to the alloy subframe), on the passenger side you`ll need to lower the washer fluid bottle to, so the bolt has somewhere to go, i normally put the bolts in from the other side on refitting then next time its easy. monsween
A 6ft bar and a fat man (like myself) and it's out in seconds by pushing the wishbone down. I changed my front suspension in about 1.5hrs last time round. First time was an entire day trying to figure it out lol

Chris Wilson
Stock length front shocks and spring combinations will NOT come out with out brute force and the chance of damaging the track rod end etcetera, unless you split a top outer wishbone ball joint, or remove the top wishbone inner pivot bolt.
