Alarmkey and alarmproblems

The car stood inside the garage for several weeks as I was away. When I came back the battery was flat. So I thought id try to hook up some cables and get it up and running. But the alarm went off and it doesnt turn off untill the the battery goes flat again. I tried to stard it but it wont, only the lights come up. Ive tried the masterkey, alarmkey, tried to go from the boot but no luck. It seems like the alarmremotes arent working anymore. Both of them. Has the code been changed/reset since the car had flat battery for some weeks?

Do I need to remap the code or anything? Ive tried it all but cant find any solution. Help me out here :search:

What you'll have (if it's a UK car) then is a Scorpion 5000 alarm. Either the control unit has gone out of sync with the remotes and you'll need to re-sync them (it's in the car alarm info that came with the car, or on here if you search), or the main control unit has failed (mine did) and the car is now stuck imobilised. Unfortunately they're obsolete alarms now so you'd need a new alarm. Hopefully you'll be lucky though with a remote re-sync.

Yes, its a UK car.. and it does look like i have the Scorpion one.. not sure what has happened because both of the controls are not working. When I opened the door the alarm went off all the time, but when I locked the car manually with the key, it stopped. I tilted the sensors up and now I can get into the car without the alarm going off. Cant seem to find the keyhole for the alarmkey.. might end up with a new alarm... ill try this first:

Ahh the good old UK-alarm issue.

I don't know if my old thread is still on the forum or not but mine did the same thing about 8 years ago.

So going from memory, the issue is as has been mentioned, that the total power loss to the alarm system has wiped its codes that will enable it to talk to your remotes.

Also as been mentioned the Scorpion system is no longer supported by the manufacturer and getting your alarm reset/re-coded is a total pain in the ####.

Basically Scorpion asked me if I would remove the whole alarm system from the car and send it back to their headquarters in Manchester whereby they would reset it and send it back, then I was going to have to re-fit it all again to the car. Bearing in mind the exact same thing would have to be done if the battery went fully dead in the future.

Use it as a good opportunity to upgrade to a more modern alarm/immobiliser system. One that can easily be reset by yourself if the battery goes flat in the future. As the cost for taking out the factory unit and sending it back for them to re-set would have worked out nearly as expensive as fitting a new one anyhow.

Also the modern systems simply work better and you can install more sensors and functions. (depending on which system you opt for).

UPDATE!! All I did.. was to remove the DOME fuse and hooked up the car with cables, as usual the alarm went off, I turned off the alarm by pressin the button on the alarmkey.. thought the car was taking a break.. tried to start the car.. and boom.. shes alive!! (DOME fuse back in) . The alarmkeys are working fine! :D The car is running just fine, no problems with the keys, alarms etc. Thank you all sooo much for the help. Dont need a new alarm now, im more satisfied with the Scorpion 5000.

PS: I still dont know where that special key (immobiliser) goes..

Sounds like a good result for you there!

When mine broke it went to the Toyota dealer who had their mechanics do a similar thing with the dome fuse, but mine must have been totally drained of power for some time.

I SORN my Supra every year, but the first year I did it I never knew how fast the alarm/immobiliser system drained the car battery and after checking it about month later it was totally dead.

Glad to hear you got it sorted and don't have to go through the hassel of getting a new system.
