Car insurance

Well iv just bought a second car and it's a 1.3 KA and called around for insurance quotes. To say I was surprised is an understatement!

The car was bought for £250 and the first quotes were all more than my supra insurance!

I called my current insurer and asked them and low and behold they came up with £497 to issuer it when I pay £426 for my supra fully comp! Needless to say I told the guy on the phone he must be joking and I was going to go somewhere else and when my insurance was up on the supra I would be going somewhere else! Oh but wait I may be able to get it cheaper for you sir! Bloody typical, so he then puts me on hold to speak to his supervisor and comes back with a quote of £288.76! Still a lot for what the car is worth but why all the hassle if they can insure it for that amount in the first place offer the price first!

Any how rant over but it's so frustrating!

Insurance is a joke nowadays, some people blame Personal Injury but it's got to be much more than that, though I am sure it has contributed. To put this in perspective, it is going to cost you just over £1,400 to insure a £250 car over 5 years!

I haven't claimed anything on my insurance for the past 9 years & had made some companies thousands better off but I assure you next year my insurance will go up next year. Before insurance used to go down with age & NCB, not anymore.

I know it's frustrating but you need to see the other side too - even if we're the unfortunate majority.

Across personal lines the average loss ratios are 115% and in the last 12 months car insurance premiums on average have increased by 36% to cover insurer losses. The simple fact is insurers aren't making any money. Fraudulant claims and staged incidents have accounted for a huge increase in costs and with solicitor/loss adjuster fees also rising more of us have to 'pay into the large pot' to fund uninsured losses and CAT claims.

It will get worse over the next 3 years as the insurance market begins to harden further.
