CJ
Has anyone any experience of using the above mattress or topper? If so, do you think they are worthwhile? I am a biggish fella (15 stone) and suffer with back issues when sleeping.
Jamesy
hell yes - do it. our bed was giving me serious back ache not to mention being a but lumpy n bumpy - even though it wasn't a cheapy one,. We spent £55 on a memory foam topper last year and all i can say is WOW - i sleep for England now and no more aches.... (best £55 you can spend in bed, minus prossies of course!!!!) CJ
What thickness was that one? The topper that is - not the prossie!
ozz
We have a mattress that is part memory foam and part normal, cost over £500 I think. Very comfortable and you don't roll into the other person so much. We changed from a waterbed to it so it was a big difference.

David P
Toppers are good, but the full fat Tempur mattress is not a good nookie platform.

Havard
What thickness was that one? The topper that is - not the prossie! Comedy oveload..!! Colin, I would just go for a really hard mattress. We paid about 800 quid for our bed and for a while it has been great. I am now getting some back ache and I feel that something harder would help. H. dangerous brain
Have you slept on a bed made of lattenbodems? In Holland and I believe alot of mainland europe they make beds not with sprung divans but stressed lats of various timbers. In holland its called lattenbodems. These beds have several advantages over our divans. First up you can design the comfort of the bed completely around the base and not the mattress. The different amount of stress you place the lats under when combined with different timber resilience provides inch by inch different spring rates. In Holland you can bespoke design a lattenbodem to suit your exact requirements. Picture it a bit like clarks shoes and their electronic measuring equipment and they have that sort of stuff for bed measuring to gauge your body posture and tailor a bed for you. To go on top you pick your choice of memory or feather filled thin mattress. Now onto the best part. Because the lattenbodem is a frame made of narrow lats of seperate section timbers you can effectively attach the rails of these frames to electric motors and form yourself amazing reclined and feet up positions. My bed at the moment has only 2 motors that gives me a full back upright position in bed and a pivotted at the knee leg support position for some perfect assed winter TV in bed comfort. If anyone wants to see my bed and how amazing it is I could do a youtube vid on it that is how impressed I am with it. To nail it into perspective the parts I bought to make it fully electric and with matresses cost me about 160 euro all in and the bed frame was an ikea 150 euro affair. The same bed in this country costs £2000 or more and is essentially the same thing dressed up as a divan but smaller. I need to make a trip out to Holland again soonish as apparently my house roof is leaking and I want to get my sauna cabin back here to the UK so if anyone wants an all singing all dancing bed let me know and I shall see what I can pick up over there for you. http://www.slaapkamerconcurrent.nl/Diverse-soorten-lattenbodems.html http://www.kelkoo.nl/ssc-137001-elektrische-lattenbodem.html http://www.healthfoam.com/rhf_ergonomic_lattenbodem.php
dazla
I've had a bad back for many year due to work and gym injuries. Even causing sciatica, I had a orthopedic mattress which i thought made it worse. I went down the memory mattress road and never look back. Its great. Only paid £180 and its made a massive difference. I'd say get one asap.
CJ
I have found a site that apparently will deliver to Greece. Does this look ok? http://www.timeforbeds.co.uk/index.php/divans/memory-foam/memory-ortho-plus-from-99.html

CJ
Well, I ended up buying this one. Getting it delivered to my mothers in the UK and then taking it back with me after my treatment has finished.
CJ
Apologies for bumping an old thread but I am on the lookout for a new bed / mattress again as the severe night time pain has returned. We are not sure whether the pain is cancer related or not although the palliative care doctor seems of the opinion it is a sleep posture issue combined with an arthritis problem. I had bought a Jimmy Joke shop memory foam topper last year (not the one off Amazon but a cheaper one off ebay) and whilst it seemed to do the trick initially, it now has very little support properties at all and so I am on the look out again. Has anyone any experience of this company? I was also thinking of looking at an electric adjustable bed but thought I would try the mattress option first and then take it from there. Thanks for your anticipated help.
Noz
I got a cheap full foam mattress. It's hot, using my normal covers I get seriously hot. I sleep loads better though. Definitely better that just a topper. Maybe worth trying a full foam one. If you can get air pathways even better, I didn't believe how insulating they are. Definitely worth a good buy. Not sure about expensive onces though.
CJ
The one I am looking at is this one. TBH, I am in such pain at night (and have been for about 2 weeks now) I am desperate to try anything to get some relief and sleep.

The-Plethora
Pro Tip: Save yourself a boat load of cash and do what I did, get a cheapish quilt, tape it around the actual mattress with fabric tape then put a mattress protector on top and fitted sheet, night and day comfort wise.
