alex2jz
Hey people, My car seems to have been partially resprayed at some point during her life, as far as i can tell. See the picture. I'm thinking of giving it a full respray in the next months to get rid of this color difference which makes me avoid some angles when taking pictures...Other than this, besides a few dents, the paintwork looks great. My questions would be : 1. At what price difference am i looking for a same color respray vs other color respray. 2. Work related, does respraying in another color require more work, stripping the car ect . 3. Is respraying in another color worth the extra work ? I'm really fancying black 4. And finally, anyone might have an idea which of the two colors on the car ( lighter red and darker red) might be the original paint if there is any ... Cheers lads
ripped_fear
keep the red mate the black is becoming very common more so than silver recently. as for prices if you are painting it another colour you are going to need to do under the bonet too so that would be extra work. alex2jz
Cheers mate. Yeah it seems black is becoming common, but for a good reason. Supras look best in black Probably will stick with red though, i'm on a tight budget now and also need to change the windshield, as it has a little crack on it Edited August 18, 2011 by alex2jz (see edit history)
ripped_fear
just get it blown over then if your keeping it red will save allot of work and therefore less labour charge to pay. they do look good in black but its always nice to be different
jim
Fair bit extra, you've the door shuts, engine bay, inside the rear hatch etc all to do too, on a budget respray in the same colour you could cut costs by masking up instead of removing the glass and not painting the shuts but you wouldn't really get away with that on a colour change. It's difficult to tell from a pic which is stock and which isn't, if it was painted recently the difference could be down to water based paint and or a bad painter. For an idea of the cost difference you'd need to get quotes as different places will charge different rates. I'd stick with red, some real nice red supra's out there. And black's nowhere near as common as silver

alex2jz
Thought i'd update this... Car finally had a makeover. Fixed the passenger side color difference, bonnet-bumper color difference along with some dents and a little rust. As well as the passenger door not being flush with the body when closed, as some of you might know. Before After

alex2jz
Cheers chaps ! Sorry about the dirty tires, the body shop got the wheels pretty dirty and haven't managed to get them cleaned properly.
j_jza80
The car looks brilliant now Nice choice of wheels, they suit the car and they're also very light for mainstream wheels.
Josh
Looking good! Although, it could just be 'cause the new pictures are a hell of a lot better than the old ones Glad you kept it red

Yeah the wheels are very nice for the money. Also have an immense range of offsets and good widths available for them. Looking good! Although, it could just be 'cause the new pictures are a hell of a lot better than the old ones Glad you kept it red Thanks Josh. Pics are better indeed ( different camera), but car looks better in person as well with all those issues fixed.
