jonc
Ok fellow members, I'm thinking of changing the missus car in the new year but I'm not a new car (unless it's the GTR or XKR:rolleyes:) or eurobox fan. I'm kind of leaning towards the Lexus IS but I don't know much about them. I'm not sure about engine size but it will probably be the 2 Litre. Does anybody on here have any experiance with these cars and maybe give me some pointers or pass on their knowledge? Cheers to anyone in advance
dude
i rolled mine about 6 times on the A24 !!!! Very comfortable and refined, not that quick and not brilliant on fuel.
Abz
As dude said above, though I had a IS220d one weekend & I loved it. Looked really nice, interior was a little cramped but the dash was lovely, very smooth & refined even at 120! Diesel was superb on fuel, once the prices are down a tad I'll be replacing Dad's car with one.
Ossar
Not sure if you mean first or second gen IS. Assuming first gen as its the only one with a 2-litre. I have an IS300 (2JZ ftw). Basically the same car as the 2-litre except for the engine. Its the second best car I've ever had great value, reliable and comfortable. Great commuter car, power lacks in the 2-litre but I guess it wasn't made for racing nurburgring anyway.
Scooter
My folks have one, an old W reg 130K miles, not a clunk anywhere still nice and smooth............slightly whiney gearbox (known problem) in 1-3rd but not bad considering its age/milage. jonc
Cheers for the replies guys i rolled mine about 6 times on the A24 Well I suppose that makes it safe although I'd rather she didn't try this if I get one:) Looked really nice, interior was a little cramped but the dash was lovely, very smooth & refined even at 120! Diesel was superb on fuel not a clunk anywhere still nice and smooth That was what I was hoping someone would say especially with refinement. Not sure if you mean first or second gen IS. Assuming first gen as its the only one with a 2-litre I did not realise the Gen 2 did not have a 2 litre. To be honest the standard of the car and the mileage is probably more important as she tends to keep cars for 5 years or so (As long as I work on them!!!) Great commuter car, power lacks in the 2-litre Im not so worried about large power for this car as I have all my fun in the Supra but I was looking for something refined and a good everyday, reliable car. BMW and Audi are out (Missus cant stand them and to be honest there are more Beamers on the road than Ford Sierra's in the 90's) and at least I know most things Toyota are reliable. I will do some reading up and see what models are out there.

There is an IS200d (150 bhp) with a 2 litre diesel engine from the avensis.
