Money transfer advise please

edge

Recommended Posts

I'm selling a car advertised online and have a guy interested from london.

He can't get down to view the car but wants to transfer half the money £600 ish and arrange someone to collect.

He said the transfer will take a few hours and can sent it when i ask.

The bank said he has no way of getting the money back out of my account but it all seems a bit odd to me and need a bit more advise.

Thanks

just tell him that is fine but you will not be handing over the keys of the car until you have received full payment whether its half via bank transfer and the remainder on collection etc but emphasis that he will not be getting the car until full payment has been paid etc

I don't see the problem here - most retail banks are on the fast-pay network now, so a balance transfer from him to you will be done in a matter of minutes via the Internet and you can see as much. This isn't some shonky pay-pay type scheme here, so he can't extract the money back again. Alternatively just tell him to 'do one' since there's always another buyer who isn't as difficult to deal with.
