mitchell
Hi guys, Just wondered if anyone had any input as I have a 94 NA 100k miles that when I brake under high revs (cant rememeber if I have clutch depressed but will try it!) the EML light comes on for about 2-5 seconds until the engine settles/ speed comes down. Its going to cost me £70 to attach it to a local garages PC to see if the fault is registered and wondered if anyone else had any possible suggestions on what it could be. The car has an oil leak that im aware of that has caused the EML to come on previously but im now aware so keep the oil levels up to avoid. Any thoughts? Thorin
Brake fluid low?
jim
As above, brake fluid needs to be topped up to the neck, just a little drop will cause the light to come on under hard braking or even going round sharp corners.
mitchell
You know when you ask a question and then someone responds.....only then you realise that you should have engaged common sense to answer your own question! Just checked and it does seem low. Will get filled and let you know. Hopefully problem solved! Thanks

Scott
Are you talking about the orange eml light or the red warning indicator? If it's the latter it's just the brake fluid. The eml light often means a real issue.
mitchell
Hi - Its the red light....didnt even realise there was seperate Orange light....I suppose thats a good thing. I have topped up brake fluid and will see if I can get the light to come on on my commute home!
mitchell
Didnt really get the chance to stress the brakes last night after topping up the brake fluid. The light didnt come on though and I have an inkling that the fault is cured. I think I must be getting over paranoid about the car as she approaches the big 20 Birthday! Scott
We tried to tell you The warning indication light without any other fault lights points to the brake fluid level.
Hellstrom
It's also a good time to check how much meat there is still left on the pads.
dani_r
I've been getting something similiar recently. When I push the car and either let off the throttle or engage the clutch the red light comes on and so does the 'hand-brake' light. But no others. Sometimes it stays on for 6 or 7 seconds, sometimes it stays on for less. I THEN realised after looking for warning lights that my cluster on the right with the Oil Pressure and EML light isn't working! Any thoughts on both issues? My brake fluid looks topped up and the pads have plenty of meat.

The Oil Pressure and EML light will either be down to blown bulbs or dry solder joints in the board.

I'll whack it off and re-solder the joints. Would it be worth checking for error codes?
Scott
Definitely, you'll need to wait until you have fixed the dry joints though Remove the battery so that you can clear the codes, put it back and fire it up. Take it for a spin and then check for codes. You don't want to be looking at old stored codes

Stuck it back in and wham! Done. Haven't had chance to drive it yet to see about error codes. Will have a look later. Cheers for you help bud
