neilp9876
My car has Tein coil overs and is slightly lowered, it also has Whiteline roll bars front and rear. Not sure of the front roll bar but the rear is on its hardest setting. I have just been told that if I switch the roll bar to its softest setting, this will make the cars suspension much softer generally. Is that true? Which setting do people recommend using, it has 3? What effect does this have, if any, on the handling? If I soften the rear, I assume the front should be on the softest setting as well? I have searched for this but couldnt see anything which explained the different combinations, what effect they had, or what was recommended. Anyone? T2 MSW
The settings on the ARB adjust how stiff the ARB is and how much roll you get under load. I think the most outside is the softest and the inside is stiffest. Howevre be careful with changing these settings in one go as a stiff rear ARB will make the car overstear and it is recommened to go up one at a time. I have the Titan ARB's and run fully stiff on the front and in the middle on the rear. I dont like a car that is too over-steery but like to be able to lean on the outside rear tyre in a controlled way if you see what I mean. Chris Wilson
An anti roll bar will have zero effect on ride *IF* both wheels on an axle pairing hit a wide bump or undulation together. The ARB adds wheel rate to spring, as determined by its dimensions, in single wheel bumps, and dependent on rate this can make the car hop. ARB rates should go in tune with spring rates, and vice versa. A stock ARB teamed with very stiff after market springs may have little overall effect. Its a Whiteline ARB so stiffer than OEM already, so i will soften it and see what difference it makes. The car has its geometry set for slight understeer at the moment so if anything making it softer will just allow it to understeer more. Is the front normally set to be stiffer than the back?
