bodilx6
I'm having a strange "spoinnng"-ish sound from my left rear wheel arch. Originally I heard it years ago, but ONLY in the wet (?!). Then I had a CW suspension fitted by the man himself and it sort of dissappeard for a year or two. Now its back with a vengeance. Always there when I hit bumps on a camber or when I move off from a stop at normal speed. I don't hear it over 40-ish mph but that could be road noise cancelling it out. Not sure. Doesn't sound like a "thump" but more as metal contacting metal, lightly, or some metal "releasing tension". I've tried - by hand - to pull/push the suspension arms with the wheel off, but I dont see any apparent movement in the bushes except I can "slide" the arm a mm or so along its axis. I wonder it is a bushing issue (if so, I'm contemplating replacing all arms but that is WAY expensive) or if i need to re-torque something (if so, what?). Here are pics of most suspension joints/bushes. http://idisk.me.com/stefanbovien/public/suspension/SUSP_01.jpg http://idisk.me.com/stefanbovien/public/suspension/SUSP_02.jpg http://idisk.me.com/stefanbovien/public/suspension/SUSP_03.jpg http://idisk.me.com/stefanbovien/public/suspension/SUSP_04.jpg http://idisk.me.com/stefanbovien/public/suspension/SUSP_05.jpg http://idisk.me.com/stefanbovien/public/suspension/SUSP_06.jpg http://idisk.me.com/stefanbovien/public/suspension/SUSP_07.jpg http://idisk.me.com/stefanbovien/public/suspension/SUSP_08.jpg http://idisk.me.com/stefanbovien/public/suspension/SUSP_09.jpg http://idisk.me.com/stefanbovien/public/suspension/SUSP_10.jpg http://idisk.me.com/stefanbovien/public/suspension/SUSP_11.jpg http://idisk.me.com/stefanbovien/public/suspension/SUSP_12.jpg http://idisk.me.com/stefanbovien/public/suspension/SUSP_13.jpg http://idisk.me.com/stefanbovien/public/suspension/SUSP_14.jpg http://idisk.me.com/stefanbovien/public/suspension/SUSP_15.jpg Any input appreciated. I'm having a hard time figuring out how to diagnose this, so any ideas about that are welcome as well. Thanks
Chris Wilson
It *MAY* be the bush in the lower arm the damper stirrup bolts through is worn, but you can't buy them without buying a new lower arm. Similarly the top wishbone inner spherical bearings wear, and again, it's a new wishbone job. BUT I have to just guess here, nothing stands out as knackered in the photos. bodilx6
Thanks Chris, thats kind of what I was guessing to hear. I don't see anything wrong anywhere, but its reassuring that you don't see it either. I'll soon get the chance to have Toyota DK's tech troubleshooting guru to take a ride with me. He might have an idea. Else its going to be new whishbones from Toyota I think. Is there anything else that would be a good idea to replace in the same round? Btw, anything on the springs I mailed you about for the OEM Toyota/Bilstein dampers? I will be near your place around the 12th or 13th of September I think. /Stefan

bodilx6
Sweet! You just send me a mail and I can get the guy to send you some cash. I would rather do that so all is OK for pickup when I get there. Oh, one thing; what should he expect after a lowering with your springs in combo with the bilsteins from the basic OEM suspension he is running now?
