mwilkinson
Was wondering what people thought about installing new oil squirters on my engine build? I know they can be cleaned with compressed air but would it be advisable to change these? Are they prone to blocking and what would be the consequences if one did? Just for info I have no reason to suspect they are damaged or not working, but I did find this on the number 4 rod. There is no obvious damage to the crank but its going away to be looked at. Would a failed oil squirter cause this?
SimonB
Just clean/degrease them and check the springs by poking them with something. They are there to cool the underneath of the pistons, they won't make any difference to the crank/rod lubrication.

On aside note any comments on the bearing wear you can see above?

Chris Wilson
Looks like you have a bent rod, or bent crank, that wants checking out properly.
Hellstrom
I would replace them its not alot money and if the spring has become abit Worn that would need less oilpressure to open the valve and you would get lower oilpressure in the whole . you could check them useing the tsrm manual to check if the spring pressure is accordingly. I did change em when i rebuilt my 7m engine. (was no brakedown, just wanted a 1000hk + bottom end) --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=57.729185,11.785945
