Ewen
I want more than 98 octane, but c'mon, TESCOS ? Is this 99 octane stuff, er, sympathetic to Supes ?
JohnA
Optimax has no RON labels mate, while selected Tescos of the Southeast have 99RON labels. Make of it what you will.
imi
ive been using "this 99 stuff" for the past 3 months...and its perfect for the Sup
Alex
99RON is available in other countries so it's not like it's not out there... But TESCO are only testing the waters as such to see if there would be any demand...Tesco clubcard points and 99RON fuel would get me buying

I don't know whether it's the placebo effect, but the car does seem to run smoother since I switched over.

imi
Has anyone tried the BP equivalent on their Supe? yup, had to fill up with ultimate yesterday since I was completely out of fuel...... dont like it...
Jake
You didn't *have to* fill up though... Anyway, I pretty much only use Ultimate cos there's no shell stations on my commute route.
JohnA
without datalogging knock events or the igntition timing the ECU settles to, means that some of the effect might indeed be placebo. At least the Tesco pumps proudly display the RON value, unlike Shell that depends on rumours and innuendo. FWIW I find this 99RON stuff better than any branded 97RON. I use the one in Thurrock mate. Do a search here and you'll find the list of Tescos that do it. I think there's one closer to you still. Kopite
i've found BP Ultimate to be slightly better than Optimax, very close call sometimes though. I would happily use Tesco's 99 if they ever get it up here if it says 99 ron on it and conforms to BS etc standards, then i don't care if Netto or Aldi sell it! Guest chiefvinso
I wrote to shell and they confirmed that their optimax product was 98 ron and that they do not have to state it by law on the pumps. So in brief, optimax is 98 ron hope that helps.

I did the same and got the same result Of course, it could be a big conspiracy theory and it's in fact 95ron by the time it reaches the pumps -Ian
straightsix
I used Tesco 99 in my GT4....spot on stuff!! More MPG, better response and det was reduced on higher boost. I would recommend it.

Of the optimax pumps I have used I havent seen a BS on them either - so it could be a conspiracy!! lol
