Guigsy
You might want to clear that up. I can't find any details of that model number anywhere for any toyota transmissions. The na and tt boxes are very similar but still different. You don't want to end up selling something that it isn't. Not having a go. And I could be very wrong. I'm no expert. They do look like supra auto boxes
ManwithSupra
Toyota only did a A340 for the MKIV Supra, same gearbox for the tiptronic versions too.

ManwithSupra
mate your wrong on this one. supra turbos had more then one gearbox model. I am not trying to be difficult here (I really am not) but could you explain why there is no mention of a IB280 on Toyota's service manual for all Toyota Auto gearboxes? http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=38292&d=1151062607 I am not trying to argue or anything just that if Toyota did make a different box then there is no documentation on it anywhere. Guigsy
I agree. Only 2 boxes for the tt. V160/161 manual 6 speed. And the a340* 4 speed. 5 speed na box was w58 and the r154 was 5 speed mkiii manual. The mkiii auto was also a a340 iirc. Also came in soarers etc. The mkiv auto box for na, tt, and tt triptronic are all essentially the same box with very minor differences. A340e is the na I think, i assume a340f is the tt and a340h the tip? There was never more than 1 model number. But iirc you can't easily use a na box in a tt (it will break) and you cant use a tt tip box in a normal tt because the electronics that run it and the vvti ecu in the vvti/tip are 32 bit rather than 16 (or something like that) Your pictures do look very similar to the a340 from what I can tell. Jezz
He is correct (to a degree). IB240 / IB260 / IB280 and IB320. IIRC the IB320 is the tiptronic variant. Sure all auto boxes are A340, but all with slight variations. Eg the NA Autobox is an A340e IB240 (cable kickdown). I dont believe its a model number, as already discussed, this is A340-. And all Supra auto boxes are A340-'s.

I only ever told them appart by the suffixes of letters
Jezz
Trust you to cloud the issue At the end of the day, you're all correct. The Supra autoboxes are all the A340 model, but the NA's with cable kickdown are obviously slightly different, as are the Tips ect. The IB number identifies which version of A340 it is. Edit: If you look at his first pic, you can see the label on top that confirms its an IB280, therefore a TT Autobox. Look at any Supra Autobox and it will have the IB label on top. I only ever told them appart by the suffixes of letters I Think the IB240 is the NA with cable kickdown, never saw an IB260 but you're probably right as I never broke a UK auto, they were all manuals. IB280 is definately TT, and IB320 was definatley a tiptronic.
David P
The IB240 and IB260 are both T.T. A340E variants.
