TheTurtleshead
Not too sure where I can obtain a BPU power level clutch for the W58 Gearbox, as I think i'm right in saying toyota never made a 5 speed TT? Anyway, what do you know people? I'm not looking to spend a fortune, just something that will handle circa 420 BHP Cheers James
Homer
I asked the same question a few months ago any wasn't able to find one. The problem is that the ones rated to TT torque levels are all puck clutches, something I would never want on a road car. If you're happy with a puck clutch then you have plenty of options, if you want an organic plate then your options are rather limited and may need to use one not rated to TT torque levels and run the risk of it not lasting too long. If you plan on using it for hard lanuches/drag racing then you will have no choice but to use a puck clutch with the w58.
TheTurtleshead
Well, I have managed to melt my N/A clutch in 3000 miles since my engine rebuild, which I suppose is to be expected Gotta get this sorted before pod though, as i'm registered for drag! Homer
As mentioned, if you don't mind a puck clutch have a look at the competition ones Paul Whiffin has here: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?233582 There's a few people been using them with NA-T's and TT's with good results. At £400 they're good value.
James
I'll check and see what the clutch is that I have on mine. It has done fine for me (NA-TT 5spd). I haven't replaced it since getting the car so I'll need to check my receipts folder and see if there is anything there!
TheTurtleshead
Ok cheers Homer, ill have a look. Let me know buddy, would be nice to have more than one option! Have you used the car for any drag racing?

Forgot to ask, were the clutch, flywheel and pressure plate replaced when you did the conversion or were they old items? If they are old items it might explain why they gave up so quick, if not, then you are either heavy footed or simply need some stronger components BTW, you should really prepare to change the pressure plate and flywheel at the same time. This is what mine looked like when I took the box off (only on an NA too!): http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?248924
TheTurtleshead
The clutch was only about 200 miles old, and I skimmed the flywheel when I changed it
Nic
TRD do a clutch disc for the 5spd part number 31250-SW252, unfortunately the TRD 5spd clutch cover is discontinued. http://trdparts.jp/english/list_jza80.html
suprasize
Didnt think the w58 box itself could handle BPU... Heard so many stories of the boxes packing up if used hard.... =/
TheTurtleshead
I intend to abuse it to its maximum potential! If it goes bang, it goes bang, and ill have to locate a 6 speed.
marc_p
The clutch was only about 200 miles old, and I skimmed the flywheel when I changed it Erm, I'm pretty sure you can't skim the stock flywheel due to the fact it's dual mass, apparently, it wrecks it, I'd budget for a new flywheel aswell.
