Charlotte
Well, I loved my 1.7 puma. It was slightly modified with a racing puma inlet manifold and some other bits but it had some good poke.

marc_p
I just recently got rid of mine, cool little thing, built it from standard, sadly, never really got used once I got the aerotop though, so sold it as it was just taking up garage space(regret it a little now though). Josh
Lcr? Probably too much on the insurance. Oh, and do you do finance? I think an MX-5 would be great but the insurance is quite high at the minute. She's still paying about £1,200 for her Ka. If she's young and insurance is a concern on a 1.6 MX-5, don't you think mentioning that before would have been an idea? If she's stuggling to insure a Ka then there isn't much hope! They are based on the fiesta, so parts are not to expensive unless you have the racing version. Need to look at plenty of them as many will have rusty arches, but there are some good examples out there. Very cool advert at the time as well. bigbloodyturbo
My missus is £1100 on a 1.4 clio and £1200 on a 1.3 Ka. She's 21 and only just passed her test. I would have said get an MR2 but i already tried using my better half as an excuse to get one but the insurance came through at £2600 so that idea went out the window. There are no options other than 1litre yaris, KA, clio, the 3cyl corsa's or a micra. Everything else is just impossible to insure

When my sister first started driving her first car was a corsa and that only cost 600 for her to get insured on. it only cost me a 1000 on the supra last year and I was 21 !! All to do with risk. Lots of 21 year old girls have crashes in Kas as so many drive them. Not many 21 year old boys have crashes in Supras. This is the reason a few insurance companies have given. I'm only paying £880 on the Supra at 22 and the Fiesta was (lol) only £360. I'll do some insurance quotes on an MX-5 with her later. Oh and by the way, I was asked to post this up for her, so for a couple of you getting annoyed saying "just get an MX-5 then" and "12 months messing around" among other crap, this wasn't my idea. I was trying to get real-world experience of these cars.
Neil-NA
MX5 should be cheap to insure for her my gf at 19 was paying £700 (also owned a KA before that) and we live in the car crime capital of the country, i'm sure you will enjoy driving it too, great cars, thinking about buying my 5th one soon
