Good girly car that has a bit of power

My girlfriend is looking to upgrade and move away from her Ka.

She likes the 207cc, but it's a bit too expensive at the moment. She was also thinking about a Tigra.

So does anyone have a partner (only if you trust them with car knowledge) with a decent girly car that's preferably a convertible (doesn't matter if not), has a 1.6 or less, is good on fuel, is safe and has a bit of power (anything over a Ka's power)?

Any help is once again, much appreciated

P.s. It's not for me, honestly.

MX5 every time. You also get the bonus that she (might) learn to drive properly too :)

She read that too, lol :D I agree though!

I've been saying MX5. I was looking to get one as a runaround. Got ripped for being a hairdresser on here :D

People who rinse them for being hairdressers cars clearly have never driven one! The mk1 Mx5's are fantastic drivers cars, very sideways in the wet and...dare i say it, more fun on a twisty country road than a supra?! We have two :D A 1.6 and a 1.8, get a 1.6 for insurance reasons and if you like things to rev, 1.8 if you prefer a bit more grownup torque :) If shes going to do many motorway miles, its worth going for a later one with the higher gearing/6 speed box. The mk2 or current mk3's are all great cars, and will do 35 to the gallon on a run :) Gotta be the mk1 for pure unadulterated fun though! Oh yeah and you get pop up headlights...

It's a 1.8 but I would think a girly would like this. Seeing that you didn't give a budget I thought I would make one up.

"It's just not gonna happen" is what she said in regards to that car :D

There's no budget, she'll get it on finance so whatever they'll give her.

If we win the lottery she would have an R8 Spyder, but for now, up to about £10k.

I'd have a mx5. I drove one for a day. I wasn't overly keen on the interior but it was ok. But being 6'3" it felt like a clown car and with size 13 feet the footwell was a bit cramped so I wouldnt be confident about getting it sideways as I didn't have much room to move!
